I don't remember that. He would have bought the OE tank if needed, top of the line kinda guy. I'm going to find him...
  2. With that old Jetson's phone you have take an extra battery and charger along for the testing. Maybe some flares and a blanket or two. You can keep warm with one and send smoke signals with the other.

I can't remember the member on here that did one hell of job on a white 280. He did car wraps for a living and cleared his and looked great. Houston Texas is where he is but I can't find any threads. He did such a great job and sold the car. We got mad at him.
  4. I like them all too. I've got black on my 240 and natual bead blasted on the 280. The black looks good against all the aluminum of the carbs and intakes to my eyes plus it never gets dirty.
  5. Yes! It does look good 90% of the time. Rock that baby until the tires fall off.
  6. Looks it's down to the primer like my 280. You can wax it up and live with it or get it painted. $5,000 for a good paint job around here. There's the "shake and bake" Maaco painters. https://www.maaco.com/
  7. I think it's original.
  8. Now on the opposite side of lucky a s s me here's my 240 original paint after a good buff out.
  9. I'm in the American Pickers camp. Leave it alone. Patina looks best to me unless it's a show car you've spent $$$ on. If not, sale it and let the new owner make those decisions. My $.02.
  10. Went down and took a few pics for you to compare your's too. Hope it helps determine if it's OE paint?
  11. I'm a bored rattle trap that reads everything.
  12. Try a $100 buff out first in my opinion. Maybe $200?
  13. I had mine buffed down to slick original color. Single stage allows that. Good luck with it. Nice looking car.
  14. If it had clear coat it's not original singal stage paint the original to the early Zs. My 9/76 has singal stage paint. It fades but that's it, no clear coat failure. My cars, my guess is if you have clear coat spots it's not the original paint. Paint it to your taste.
  15. Fix it again tony

  17. Maybe go the dumber way and don't try and sneak around? If it's important to you be straightforward and get all the info you can. Just saying $^!# or get off the pot.
  18. Was that a z car forum? I saw something similar on one. He wouldn't tell you the plug gap, search for yourself, but asked for money to marry his high school crackhead.
  19. I've always called it loading up. Fuel/oil gets by idling but burns off at higher rpm. Boats are bad about doing that.
  20. I beat you by about 10 years. Can't say enough good about Steve, he's one of those guys.

Asking too much but did this come from north Alabama? There's a guy on here that lives close and has a white/blue early car he's trying to restore but I haven't heard from him in years. Curious...
