  1. Try removing the air filter and see how it runs with the cold air coming directly in. Won't cost anything...
  2. I'd try and find another upper coolant housing and then figure out what needed to be done to put whatever sensor you need in. zcardepot has them for $43. https://zcardepot.com/products/thermostat-housing-water-outlet-oem-240z?variant=19274718118001&currency=USD&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=google+shopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsIyr_4aB7wIVgcqGCh17LAGdEAQYAiABEgLX4fD_BwE

It's a thing they're doing. Ford was back in 2014 according to this. Guy thinks like me, "seems counterintuitive..."

Yes! That's where I heard that and was trying to ask about other hollow parts like a crankshaft. Then I got a text and ran off the road. Sorry for the half arsed post. Seriously though I was wondering if that is possible on something like an F1 car where money doesn't matter. Hollow parts to lighten the motors? I've never thought of that and am curious. Thanks.

That doesn't go together very well. If they made a hollow crank shaft it would spin up a lot better but that rotating mass thing always comes to mind for me.
  6. I may as well have left the 4 speed in mine. I never use #5. 😇
  7. GIFTEDZ Pretty good personalized plate. I'm leaving mine to the local humane society so far. Some scallywag girl may get them in between.

Congratulations! If that's a before and after shot, wow! It looks great. Enjoy that car.

That was suggested to me so I ran the gauge to the windshield. It let me see what was what at idle then through the range of throttle. @FastWoman helped me through all of this. I miss her help on our cars but she moved on, I guess?

I ran a gauge up to the driver's side windshield, under the wiper blade. Had good pressure constantly. The ECU was getting a lean reading and feeding less fuel because of the coolant temp sensor function. I forced more fuel by clamping the return, it ran way better. I realized I was on to something and asked on this FANTASTIC forum and then went to RadioShack and spent $5. Runs like it should plus I control the fuel flow. I can lean it out on the interstate and run cooler. I've thought of putting a camed up head on and fattening up the fuel? I've read EFI can't compensate for small lobe cams. One of these days, when I'm bored...
  11. This looks like a good deal to me. Anyone looking should jump on these.

From all I've read on here the FPRs rarely fail. I think it's a simple diaphragm but I'm not positive. You can clamp the return line to increase fuel pressure. That's how I discovered my coolant temp problem. The shitty running up until 2,500rpms.
  13. Ha! Mask required on federal roads and parks.
  14. Sounds familiar.
  15. They aren't having to walk around the lot with khakis and a logo polo shirt, tennis shoes. "Let me go talk to my sales manager, maybe I can get him down some more". Those were the good old days right?

Yeah, the bucking is how I explained my coolant temp sensor problem before I installed a potentiometer. It would buck until about 2,500rpm and then pull good. Make sure these connections are good and clean, tight. You can crimp them down a little too. https://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/tempsensorpot/index.html
  17. I painted only things that I had off to work on. You're going a lot further than I did. I got lucky and found cars with original paint and little rust underneath. I agree with the "get them running good and drive" philosophy.

The tps might be out of adjustment? Trying to think what the paint shop could have done. Agree with Dave, check the simple stuff. Vacuum gauge and fuel pressure gauge would be good. Auto parts stores loan them out around here. Here's a good write up on the tps. https://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/tps/index.html
  19. I used satin. My oil pan and other original painted parts were the reason I did so. Right or wrong I don't know. Maybe other members will chime in with more knowledge?
  20. Great purchase! It appears to be an "oiling cam" so you'll need those block offs. here's some specs from our friend @240260280 https://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/cam/index.htm
  21. Let me see what that one sales for and then I may go get the one in North Alabama I posted a few days ago. A little work and I could get that junkyard car looking good if the motor and drivetrain are as stated.
  22. If you decide to use a small spray gun instead of rattle cans I highly recommend another $15 for a small moisture separator right before the gun. I have a pretty good one right of my compressor but still get moisture after the 25 ft hose. That's fine for most everything except painting and sandblasting.
  23. I have a slide hammer but honestly don't remember using it. I bought a quart of chasis satin black from Eastwood and used it on everything on my 280 and 240. Great stuff in my opinion. Bought a cheap gravity cup hvlp gun from Harbor Freight, $15 small gun. I can dial the pattern down to spray the size of a dime, low air so no overspray. Still use it too.
  24. I bought Standard fj707s from rockauto.com. Here they are at amazon.com $48 https://www.amazon.com/Standard-Motor-Products-FJ707-Injector/dp/B000VB32IA
