Take pictures of that stuff and post them. You'll be amazed at what these guys see that can get overlooked by the owner. Have you adjusted the valves yet? That helped mine because they were so far out of whack. You can do them cold without a running motor. Check the spark at the plug boots. Post pictures of your plugs. There's some folks on here that have 240s they bought new and still drive them regularly. And I promise you can't show too many photos. I'm just trying to facilitate your issues. The big guns have to be pulled out from under their beds.

I ran my dog around the block in between rain showers and thought about it. In my experience if you can't get it to run with the fuel pump pulling from a small gas jug you might start looking at the ignition. Fuel you have and air you have. That leaves fire/spark. I bought a 240 that wouldn't run and it turned out to be a loose black wire on the oe distributor. I got rid of that thing and upgraded to a ZX one. Ran then, but that's when I figured out the gas tank was full of crud. Anyway, something to think about. Don't get zeroed in on the tank. It could be a few other things and you've found the right place to get good solid information.

Sorry!!! You are right on the acetone. It's not denatured alcohol. My bad. Here's the lining instructions you should read over. You might see something helpful. https://www.google.com/search?client=ms-android-americamovil-us-revc&source=android-home&source=hp&ei=hTWCX8yVEub25gK7w5_4Cw&q=red+kote+instructions&oq=red+kote&gs_lcp=ChFtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1ocBABGAMyAggAMgIIADICCAAyAggAMgIIADICCAAyAggAMgIIADoICCkQsQMQgwE6BQgpEM0COgIIKToFCCkQyQM6BQgpEJECOggIKRAWEAoQHjoICAAQsQMQgwE6BQgAELEDOggILhCxAxCDAToFCAAQyQM6BQgAEJIDOgIILjoLCC4QsQMQyQMQkwI6CAgAELEDEMkDULgWWIstYPw-aABwAHgAgAGLAYgBlgeSAQM0LjSYAQCgAQGwAQ8&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-hp

Those hoses go to the evap tank in the hatch. Some people completely remove them so no the brittle hose wouldn't cause a problem on the fuel delivery. You have the steps mixed up. The soda and water kills the acid. The denatured alcohol evaporates the soda and water before you apply the coating. I would wash it out with water if your not going to recoat then pour a quart of denatured alcohol in and slosh it around, drain that out and put a leaf blower in the big hole to dry it. Take pictures down the big hole and post them up. *Neutralizes the acid*
  5. My first digital camera back in '94, '95 had a rechargeable battery. I thought that was great until I'm at Mardi Gras and the darn thing quit on me. I acted like it still worked and the drunks still gave me a flash even though the camera didn't. Next camrea had 2 double AAs. Bought rechargeable and could also get some at the quick shop if those died. Now they have those throw away USB charge sticks at a quick shop for our phones. Life is good!
  6. Nice clean look you have there. I "likes" that.
  7. Do you leave yours on? I took mine off after I dropped the motor in but I've seen them on quite a few motors from the pictures people post. I have a box for "temporary parts" that those and the tie down hooks a lot of people have on their rear bumper brackets are in. It's on the top shelf, covered with dust.

I've done my time in the nightlife. Gained nothing but memories and some periodic bumps on my dingaling. I'd rather talk to you guys and gain more knowledge.

Well whadda ya know! I've had a lot of fun on here with you guys. Whizzed off most but helped a few too, be it cars or a laugh. One of my best buddies told me the other day I could get away with saying anything, being from Alabama and an alcoholic. What's the world coming to? Likes and dislikes...yeesh. And that flat rubber washer.
  11. Do you use Red Line? That's what I like. Nobody stocks it here so I get it from amazon.com about $15 a quart? Wait one second! My transmission is mt-90 red line.
  12. I did not know we could do member polls. Maybe I shouldn't have known. Let the polling begin!

I did exactly what Zed Head did on my O'Reilly radiator too but I didn't drill a hole for draining. I have to pull the lower hose off to get the fluid out. I also used Teflon tape as Heyitsrama suggest.

13 people arrested for attempted kidnapping of gov. Whitmer. Future vp Harris is next, communist witch he says to the Proud Boys that can afford a tv. If they kidnap pumpkin head it'd be like that cheetos commercial to catch the kidnappers. "When did we get a caaat?" Get it? The orange makeup he wears to cover covid-19 damage to his mind and body.
  15. That's a fan belt pulley base like ours that go over the water pump. Good for you Zed Head! The www.com is your bitch.

Read over this, great pictures to look at too. You'll get the jest of it but 240s have a lot of evap hoses you must deal with. And if you can't/won't read it use a clear storage tub from Walmart to drain the tank. They have their Christmas stuff out now so you could get one for cheap. https://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/fuel/gastank/index.htm
  17. Well yeah! I snipped it from your thread in 2013. You are the man Chas! So helpful to everyone. And to the OP there's what I call a top hat seal in there too. Be very careful those are nla. Use good thick teflon tape on everything and you'll be good to go.
  18. Nope. That cog is the same height as the fill plug so it shouldn't unless it's overfilled. When you get it fixed you can do what most of us have done. Drive it and when you park for the night put a newspaper under there then check it the next morning. Good luck.

  20. I'm waiting for the "just right" to hit and go mow my lawn so here's a joke I heard today for the first time. Sorry if it's an oldie but I'm way down South. Things take longer to get here. (there's a joke right there) Q: What Is The Speed Limit Of Sex? A: 68, At 69 You Have To Turn Around!

  22. Yes there's two, the one in my pics and an o-ring. Speedo pinion seal 32709-14600 Speedo pinion o-ring 32710-14600
  23. Here's that speedo washer i bought from local Nissan. P/N #32709-14600. They don't stock them but can get it overnight. It goes down in here. Not sure if @EuroDat posted these numbers yet but I found them on one of his old post.

You need to try a small gas jug up front straight into the pump. That bypasses the tank.

Here's something about the bcdd that might be useful.
