  1. What is your system like? Crank trigger? TPS? Haltech? Etc
  2. Very low unless those are not in PSI. Plugs 5&6 seem a little lean. I know we have gone through the ignition system before but don't remember everything that was tried. An all new hotter ignition system might be worth a try before you dig into the motor
  3. Pretty Car! Money ahead to buy a car like that and refine it versus my selected path... I wanted to go ITB's, now you're making me nervous.
  4. But oil ring shouldn't affect compression numbers

I believe he is referring to the extra metal in the passenger side wheel well Zcardepot offers this piece

    $277.77 All 10' lengths in 2023
  7. Im sure I documented that somewhere on the forum but I can't find it. I thought it was in my build thread but maybe not. Maybe the librarian can find it? As I recall the shoulders of the spider were too wide to tip into the yoke. So they had to be shaped down to fit in

@Namerow Now you tell me 😉
  10. But it doesn't make sense that only #4 does it and not 5&6. We also went throught ignition trying to move it and couldn't

I think Zeds right look for a pinched wire in the dash
  12. I believe he stated earlier that the valve seals on #4 had been replaced

I'm confident it was put on before the plugs when new. Just makes replacement challenging

I have shopped for Porsche's many times but that is a big part of the reason I've never bought one.
  15. Yes, I used that part. It can be a little tricky to reassemble. I had to clearance the one I got some. Not every needs to though.
  16. I don't mind the stock wheels. They look right to me...

I did a little work on the car today. Finished assembling the rejuvenated clutch master. I also worked on the engine bay harness. I laid new wires into it and replace the firewall grommet. What a pain in the ...!!! You have to depin most of this to get it on. And some of those wires don't want to depin, even with the correct tools. I did finally get it. Hopefully I got them all back in the right spots. Otherwise SteveJ is gonna have a fit finding it!
  19. Pretty car. Looks to be in pretty good condition.

We have a crank shop near us that regularly reworks journals like that. They weld them up and then remachine them. Probably not cost effective. Especially if the offset grind L28 will accomplish almost the same thing. Hate it about the motor, but the new engine aught to be impressive
  21. True but we never got it to move from cylinder #4 no matter what we tried. Maybe the oil ring is bad or the gaps in the compression rings aren't properly offset. Ive got no idea but there must be some cause and it seems like we tried everything else
  22. I love blue BMW's; so E36. I've had a couple of E36's and E36/7's. M cars are fun! We have an 06 M roadster currently that needs a new home
  23. What year is the M3?

Here is some more info I believe this is the before measurement This is my setup to soak it. I had a lid with a weight on it to keep the alcohol from flashing off. I turned it morning and night every day for about 9 days. It takes four rotations to get the whole part soaked. That is why it isn't totally even. Would have taken a good bit more wintergreen to have enough to fully immerse. This part was rock hard and is pretty thick. I think that is part of why it took so long. This is the after measurement It does swell it some and when it's not fully immersed it will distort the part some Before video After video
  25. I know it has been frustrating. Some of the mechanics might have been inexperienced but if it's an internal problem, that's a little hard to diagnose unless the same mechanic works on it every time. After every other possibility is exhausted then it has to be something internal. I believe that is where your at now...unfortunately 😞
