  1. Pictures are deceiving. The unit is made of solid Brass. Its not coated steel nor is it painted Aluminum. But being the internet, the only way to prove it is for others to see it in there hands. So there lies the problem.
  2. Merlin was said to have turned Lead into Gold. Well, Some how a part that I have always seen as Aluminum is now brass! Well, maybe I just didnt noticed. But heres the story, I been pulling parts off other cars at the junk yard and rebuilding them to replace the parts on my car for the restore. However today, I was under my hood taking off the Flow Guide Valve on mine and under all the grime I found this!.... All the other ones I have ever seen on all models have been aluminum! The question is, has anyone seen one like this before??? Polecat
  3. So any word on those hoses yet? Polecat
  4. Hehe I do but.........
  5. Thanks! And the wait kept me in suspense! Polecat
  6. OK. This might be the wrong area to post this out of ignorance but here it goes... I have a bunch of Replated ZINC parts for 240s 260s and 280s on Ebay. Just look up the other things for sale link.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250776636464&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT Like I said, I may have posted this in the wrong area so let me know if I did and it wont happen again. 7. Then what paint should be used? The spray can? Of coarse I would rather use the real paint, Thats why I am asking.
  8. A couple of simple questions about paint color for the old hubcaps and the sheet metal around the 240 tail lights.... What Color Are They? Can a Krylon spray can work? Or are they that "special" color? Thanks! Polecat

Ok. This is going to be interesting to explain but I well try to do so. My 240Z is a original car that my moms husbands dad purchased originally. So I can point to everyone that has owned it. Now I am trying to restore the car including paint. I have the interior gutted and all the original ORANGE paint is there in great shape and every part in the cab has it! Everyone who has seen it including some new friends with Z cars have said ORANGE is great! How ever.... Today when I was looking under the hood getting ready to pull the engine and everything elts under there, I decided to look at the color tag.... COLOR NO. 110 !?!?!?!?!?! Red??? Its orange! After looking further, I did find one area under the hood, by the grill below the hood hing that was hard to find that had a very lite tent of red. Could it been the order was for Red but during the painting was switched to Orange??? Has anyone heard of this before??? I mean there is NOTHING anywhere including in the tool boxes that gave any hint of red! Just for reference, the interior is WHITE including the head liner, seats, sides, doors, tranny tunnel. I am all ears on this one! Polecat

Where can I buy the stock engine block blue AND the blue to match both the air pump pulley and the alternator and air pump brackets? Here? There? Where? Polecat
  12. Ok Here is a update on the hoses that I shaped. After a full 24 hours, they still retained there shape and are flexible. So far OK. The old decreptid hose is the one on the left in each pic as to the new Jag hose thats been reshaped. Esprist, how much do you think those hoses well be when they are available? And well the set include the early 72 manifold to check valve hose? Thats the one that cant be found. Polecat
  13. A week ago, I came across 6 feet of old braided Jaguar vacuum hose that happened to match the size and look of 240Z vacuum brake booster hose so I tried something today. I cut to length and then stuffed a aluminum wire through them and stuffed the two into my oven at 400 degrees. The object was to see if they well retain the shape of the wire. After about 40 minutes, I quickly doused them in cold water. And guess what! it worked! The pick shows them in the oven before I closed the door. I made the wire so that there was no part of the hose touching the frying pan or the oven walls. In my excitement, I forgot to take a pic of the hose but well tomorrow night. SO if you can find braided hose that can work, there is a chance you can modify it to what shape you want. I cant say this well work for water lines because of the pressure but you might want to give this a try for other things. JUST MAKE SURE YOU DONT BURN YOUR HOUSE DOWN! Watch it! Polecat:)
  14. Fantastic! Both of my Brake hoses are shot and need replacing! I have looked all around and I would have to modify a different hose to come close to replace the manifold to check valve hose. Do you have any idea when these well be ready for sale? Also, the two water hoses for each end of the intake manifold. One is straight and 3 inches long the other is the Thermostat Housing to Manifold Hose. Its a double bend and small diameter. They were braided but are no longer available. Are these going to be on the list of making any time soon? Polecat
  15. I am buying 2 sets of new Repo braided hoses for the water and makes the other hoses I need with the extra hoses. Just there a couple of small diameter hoses that I cant find anywhere.
  16. OK heres a interesting question. Are the rubbers used in the Repo Braided water hoses the sames as the rubber used in the lets say the Evap Canister gas tank hose in the back of the 240Z? I am thinking because its so hard to find braided hoses to use something that is close. Or well the Evap hose break under the hear, water and pressure of the cooling system? Any thoughts??? Polecat

While I was rebuilding the SU carbs, I did something totally dumb! I dropped the dash pot plunger on the needle bending it! The world shook as I yelled every curse I could think of. Now that I managed to gather my composer, where can I find 2 new needles and jets for a early 1972, 3 screw system? I want to get a Ztherapy set up but the money, theres not enough! I well save my cash contact them in a year or so but for now, where can I get some needles and jets? Thanks all! Polecat
  19. Its no problem I just looked at "Too Intense Restoration." and they sell the hole kit for a very reasonable mount! Thanks again! Polecat
  20. "A single layer of vinyl isn't all THAT heavy. A heavy-ish sewing machine with a big needle and some large thread could probably stitch it. Why not make your own from regular vinyl?" Well there is something about the car that I just want to keep it with the diamonds. I am sure there are better looking vinyls out there but I really cant explain it. Its a very cool car with its interior!
  21. Ok guys, I have a interesting problem. I cant find replacement WHITE diamond pattern vinyl for my 72. I found black everywhere but white? Forget it! Is there a place that sells the white diamond by the role to have new peaces made? I have everything but after sitting in the Nevada sun for 20 years, its not even close to be looking good. Any suggestions? Polecat
  22. Well, I was over at my local metal plating business, A and A Enterprises, LLC, and was going to get a BUNCH of parts, pipes and linkage plated Cadmium when the guy said, "Are you sure this is Cad? It looks like Zink to me" I told him that the older cars were cad plated. He still had questions. SO I asked the 3 guys there if there was a way to check. The said sure and instructed one guy to acid test the plating. The idea is some acids react differently to different plating. The guy came back with the result and everything he tested was ZINK. Its a 1972 all stock under the hood. Also the T pipe feeding the heater core was Plated too but painted engine blue. The question is has anyone ever really tested to see if the Cad plating was really Cad?
  23. Hey! I was wondering if there was a difference in part numbers or do they cross over on the 240 rocker arms? I was asking because I see now and then Nissan rocker for sale but with different part numbers but they say they well fit. So well the 13257-W0300 interchange with the 13257-21000? Polecat
  24. I have a question about Braided Hoses on a 240. It seems that most of the 240s that were stock had braided hoses only on the heater hoses, smog hoses, the brake vac hoses and the rad hoses. The rest including all the carb bypass hoses were regular rubber ones. Was this from the factory this way? or was EVERY hose under the hood braided? Thanks! Polecat

Hey! I am about to rebuild the engine in my 240 but I have come across something interesting. I want to use Nissan parts and noticed that the part numbers are different depending who I ask but they all claim that the arms are all the same. So does the 510, 610, 240, 260, 280 and other motors use the same rockers? Thanks! Polecat
