ecu float
Okay, before I go into detail of my new F.I. issue I'm posting a question: Anyone with the so called "ecu float" issue, can you describe symptom(s) or reason(s) you believe that is what's happening.

While the block is at the shop...
ksbeta, are you selling these? I think one would look good in my 280 :-) I have always wanted one but usually can't touch them due to price. More info on the block in the shop.

Need Help 77 280z hot start issue
I'm with you Willoughby. I just responded to a recent thread regarding the same thing and I also have done the same things you have to attempt solving the problem. I recently adjusted (slight) the AFM richer and my problem went away, so far. But I'm not sure if that is a fix or if it is just masking the problem. Only time will tell. Like bryand2, my 77 would do the same thing and it is annoying! Fires right up in the morning, warms up normal, runs great. When it would do this (run like crap) after sitting for 10-15 min I was on the hunt for the problem and never found one. That's when I decided to richen the AFM one full turn of the bypass screw. That was about 2 months ago and I haven't had the issue since then. Again, I'm not saying it will fix it but it seems to have corrected mine. Good luck and post your success when it happens.

Suspension not so stiff when changing gears, could use recommendation
True, especially on these cars! That would have been good info at the beginning of this thread. Im curious, when did you notice rim or tire size differences? you stated having 215-60-R14's on 14" wheels.

Harness's for the 77 280
Anyone have for a production date 5/77 280 the engine room and F.I. harness's? I have an add in the classifieds also on this. I know the "engine room" harness will work from 8/76 - 7/77. Part number 24012-N4800. F.I. harness: 8/76 - 7/77 part number 24011-N4700. If you do PM me with price. Thanks. Oh and prefer no cuts or missing connectors. I know I'm asking a lot here. If half of them out there are anything like mine the are very brittle!

When to stop with "while this is off, may as well fix that too"
You've got it bad when you "tinker" just about every day like ME. I love the Zcar also and am always doing something to it. And my wife is very understanding when it comes to my hobbies. She thinks it's great!

Door slamming issue fixed-finally!!!!
Sounds like you are have the same problem I'm having on my 77 280. I bought the ones from MSA (not OE) a year and a half ago and am still having the "tight" issue. I have to push on the door and pull on the handle at the same time because I don't want to damage my door mechanism. I called MSA today and they suggested putting a heat gun on it to soften it. Not sure I want to try that. Need to investigate a little on that procedure!

77 280z Water Temp Sensor Issue, Runs Very rough
Samson, I'm not sure why you have to have a ref station tell you it's okay to put a cat on your car. When I moved back to CA (Ventura) I just had a local shop install one. It was that easy. Unless your county is weird about things like that. Also if you haven't figured it out by now CA smog stations will fail you unless your cat has the production date and a serial number if I remember correctly, but don't quote me. Reputable shops know this already. I would also recommend using NGK plugs. I'm curious also as to the results of your smog test.

Suspension not so stiff when changing gears, could use recommendation
Maybe take it to a different shop for balancing. I always recommend "road forcing" them. It costs a little more but well worth it. But, I'm not convinced this is an issue for you. I would suggest getting to a well known drive line shop in your area and let them drive it. Out of balance tires will give you a vibration if it's coming from the rear and front end shimmy if in the front. Did you do the suspension work yourself? A "pulling" from side to side is a drive line problem, period. If it was one direction ONLY then I would say alignment. But that is not the case. Take it to a good drive line shop and post what they find. They will find it. There is something that you are overlooking. Good luck.

Installing OEM Mustache bar bushings
Good to know Mike. Do you notice a change in the ride or if it is quieter with these over the urethane bushings?

Suddenly missing
You don't mention adjusting valves in the last 5 years. I adjust mine once or twice a year no matter how much I drive it.

Ash Tray Trivia
Do you suppose the 240 center console sat a little higher than the 280 console. Wonder if there was a fit issue there.

Runs Rough After Sitting 10-15 mins...
Fastwomen: okay first let me say sorry for taking so long to get back with info. I did order the one from Sam and installed it this morning. Went back later, 45 minutes, and it was still holding pressure. After about 3 hours I rechecked and the pressure had leaked down to "0"! Not sure what is going on here. So what I'm going to attempt to do is pressurize the system and pull the fuel line from the fuel filter "out"(that is where I installed the check valve) and see if it bleeds back. If it does then it's the check valve. If not then I have a leaky injector, which are new! Either way I'm not happy! NiiChan: I was having the same problem and was able to correct it (time will tell) by adjusting the air bypass screw in my AFM 1/2 turn clockwise which meant I was just a little too lean. I will get back when I have results of the test I want to run next.
