  1. site, yeah at first I was thinking "oh damn" I need to shrink it but now I like it. By all means copy it. I like the close-ups. The stock hood will be going back on her in the near future.
  2. Definitely a sweet find! That's how mine looked before I made some changes. Wish I left it alone. Looks like it was well taken care of. Whats the vin#? Mine is HLS30401587 production date 05/77. Welcome to the club!
  3. Altitude switch is located on the drivers side of the dash way up in there, haha! I know because I tested mine and boy was it a pain to get to. Oh, the ECU will be on its way Monday the 8th.
  4. Figured I should add that I know its a good unit. I pulled it from a wrecked car about 15 years ago and ran it in my 77 for a couple months. So its good to go.
  5. Also, if your car is a California car, which I believe it is, it has the "altitude switch" and catalytic converter. The ECU I have is from a California car.
  6. Hi Jai, my missing ECU has been found. When I told a Z friend of mine about my missing parts he said to me, I quote, "you mean the one you loaned me?" all I could do was laugh. I completely forgot I loaned it to him. So its available to you if needed. I still cant find my Ignition module though. Anyway, let me know. I'll be glad to send it to you. If you decide you want it send me a PM with your address.
  7. ! Holly spotted cow Batman. Well, when you look at any sports cars worth a damn they are a lot more than 30K. So its really not bad. Plus the simplicity of it. You can fix anything that goes wrong with what you have without paying a mechanic with an arm and leg.
  8. I'm with you rossiz. Maybe he lost a bet or had something to prove? Who knows.
  9. Or how about a Tesla power plant?
  10. Yeah I think I saw it about 2 years ago on craigslist. Maybe he should include a video of it running.
  11. Check this out 1975 Datsun 280Z ELECTRIC POWERED - $17000 https://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cto/5426691469.html
  12. Ain't that the truth. I have inspiration, just not the funds. I'm sure we are talking 20 plus grand, no?
  13. Mine is also like yours Chas, 401587 5/77

I saw their show, Kindig it designs, I think thats the name of it. They did drive it around. Sweet looking and running car.
  15. Update I bypassed my fuel damper today. Just wrapped a section of injection hose around the top side of it for now. I have put about 50 miles on it and also just let it idle for about 15 minutes and I have no line vibrations or anything else for that matter. I do have the Delphi FD0035 aftermarket fuel pump which has been on there for about 16 years. So far no issues. Unlike Consigli, my line pressure still bleeds off. That'll be next.

I bought these from MSA. Bought them a couple years ago before I knew of zcardepot. They sell them individually also, but I wanted all new ones so I bought the set.
  17. I strongly believe in the "road forcing" of the wheels/tires for our Z's. I have to have mine done whenever I get new tires. It costs more but is well worth it. My damper, both of them, leaked from the exact same place. I think its pretty good it lasted this long though.
  18. Very cool info Mike. I still want to completely remove mine and see if there are any issues. I run an aftermarket fuel pump and want to know if we really need to run a damper. Bob
  19. Was contemplating removing mine this week. But I will wait, maybe, to hear results of the one you are installing. I'm not convinced yet that I need one while running an aftermarket fuel pump. I will give it some more thought. I may remove it and run the car just to answer a couple questions. Good price for the one you found though. Are you installing it anytime soon?

I used Q-tips and no, I didn't smell a thing. But then again, I have been working around solvent based materials for 30 years. Surprised I can smell anything.

Silicon spray does the trick. And where you have screws, instead of push pins, loosen them slightly.
  22. Just looked at that one and will consider it after trying to run without one. I don't want to spend the money to find out it wont work, yet. And I don't want to replace it with a used one again. Thanks for the info zKars
  23. I also think a new can of starter fluid is needed. "If there is spark" that engine should give a sign of life with the starter fluid for sure. Even with a weak spark the starter fluid should make it pop or something at least.
  24. I saw those also. Wow! I think I paid $300 but that was probably 20 years ago.
  25. I have just discovered the same issue with my Z, the leaky damper. And like you I have searched high and low with no luck. I'm running an aftermarket fuel pump so I will be removing my damper and will post results. I'm hopping to find that I don't really need it. According to the guys at MSA a few of their customers are running without one with no complaints.
