I actually had mine on ramps. Worked pretty well until I needed to compress the suspension just a little. That clamp made quick work of it. Haha! That's my problem as well. Besides the front seal leaking I also discovered that my aluminum rad has a leak A tiny one though. Going to call around and see who can fix aluminum rad's. It's only 5 years old. Really doesn't have many miles on it either.

Finally got around to installing my new end links from Zcardepot. Bought the kit from them. $20 + shipping. As you can see in the pics I had help. My handy dandy quick grip clamp from H.F. Worked perfect. Was able to do the install without adding any weight to the corners like you read in some of the forums. An hour job total time. While I was under there I took a look around and things sure are oily under there. I think most of it is coming from my front main! Oh well, guess I'll do that next.

I just looked at my microfiche and don't see any reference one way or another so I would believe they are interchangeable.

Glad you are sticking with the EFI. Once you figure it out and she is running good you'll be happy with it. And that is good info from Chas on the bosch relay!

See that vacuum hose just to the right of that intake port? It looks like the vacuum hose that's supposed to be connected there. You might want to look at that. I'm pretty sure thats the hose.
  9. So hopefully they work We were always told these joints were not serviceable. But obviously they are. I guess time will tell when you get it on the road.
  10. Hope they work! Anxious to know. Uh oh....made in China. Sorry had to go there
  11. Looks good and nice heater!

Look at the post above yours. And the date. Sold
  13. I think it must be the color that makes me think twice about not liking the 2+2. I really like the paint. And its nice and shinny

Which is pretty much what I was saying, "All depends on what type of job you want" Perfect body work or not, Perfect paint job or not. When I was looking to get mine painted in 91 I got estimates while I was still CA and they wanted 5k then for some body work and 2 stage paint. After moving to Nevada in 91 I got estimates below 2k for the same work. So in 92 I got it painted for $1100.00. I believe it does matter some where your are located as far as prices go. Look forward to seeing how yours comes out wheee.

All depends on what type of job you want. If you are restoring the Z then you don't want a daily driver paint job which will cost you at least 5k. I don't know "exactly" how much a restoration paint job would cost but I'm sure its more than double the daily driver price, heck probably triple that price.
  16. Welcome to the forum. Is it a turbo? Looks great! Straight body lines, descent paint. 2 + 2 not as desirable but I would drive it. Did it come with any of the emblems, 280zx etc.? More pics.
  17. And no charge for rust.
  18. And look who it is! The notorious California-datsun Inc people in Rancho Cucamonga CA.
  19. In the "How to restore your Datsun" by Tom Monroe page 138 bottom of page it states "No" sealer is required. So, if you have "imperfect" surfaces, as Mark Maras mentioned above, then you could use a sealer. I guess it all depends on that, imperfect surfaces. As a matter of fact I recall a friend of mine, many years ago, doubling up on his gasket for the fear of the imperfect surface issue. Used 2 fiber type from MSA. If I were you I would check those surfaces with a straight edge first if you have not. Then decide from there where to go.
  20. On my 280 I never added any gasket sealer to my intake / exhaust gaskets. IIRC I have done it twice over the past 30 years with no problem. I'm sure others will chime in on what they did. I'm not near one but what does the FSM say?
  21. For some reason I thought the 280 came with the green top. Just noticed on that same add, towards the bottom, it says "70-74 Z"
  22. Is this readily available and easy to replace?
  23. Phil, I'm not sure what the differences are but I will check.
  24. On my list as well! Will take you up on the offer when I'm ready.

Those 280's are in great condition. Rest assured now that he has shown them he'll get offers. Could be a way for him to see what they are worth?
