  1. Carl it is a US publication out of Florida, and it does have close ties to Grassroots Motorsports. The current cover displays the 46 BRE 510. Panchovista, keep in mind that I have a BSR roadster replica and am presently restoring a REAL B sedan 510. Gogriz91, the new poster was a bit of a shock. I spoke to Hector (the artist and Datsun enthusiast) and it is a strict marketing thing...Mazda stepped up to the plate. Of course they would not want to see a Nissan in a prominate location on the poster....
  2. First I want to clear the air that these are not my decisions. Second these choices were made by an AMERICAN PUBLICATION so they are slanted because of the readers of this magazine. Okay now that the disclaimer has been made here were the choices, in a non-specific order, and significance. 1965 Honda RA272 F1 Car, the first Japanese formula 1 winner 1968 Toyota 2000 GT Carol Shelby race team, focus from Fords to Toyotas in the 60's 1970 Datsun 240 BRE 240Z, with a honorable mention of the Datsun roadsters that came before the Z 1971 Datsun BRE 510, specifically the dominance in this class in 71 and 72. 1974 Mazda RX-3 The land speed record racer at Bonneville G production car. turning 160.393mph 1980 Mazda RX-7 IMSA GTU dominance, from 80 to 87 with the distinction of the most wins by a single car model. 1988 Nissan GTP ZX-t Nissan beats Porsche at their own game. 1991 Mazda 787B Japans first and only Le Mans overall win 1992 Mazda Miata, rebirth of the roadster and a staple in SCCA Club Racing. 1997 Acura Integra Type R Realtime Racing SCCA Pro Racing's Speed World Challenge. Acura dominated from 97 to 02 Okay guys there it is....

Hey Alan, We actually agree on something BTW did you see the new Classic Motorsports magazine? They list their top 10 most significant Japanese race cars...Interesting choices...

Brian! Congratulations! glad to see a few of us with photos and articles in this magazine. The guys at lightning really did a nice job. Carl the artist is Telly Sahara, I have contacted him to get a copy of the artwork. So far no reply. He does have a website with some of his work and is a big fan of autoracing.

Actually, I think it is cool that these guys get out and race these great machines. That is what they were built for. The ferrari will be fixed to race another day...that is racing...Going out and having fun driving these cars vs. having them sit in a museum....well I say race them!! Boosted, if you buy a Ferrari like that you can make those decisions....Until then dont pass judgement like that.....
  6. Victor, you are welcome to come as a member of my BRE race team... Are you going to Solvang?
  7. Yeah, I will be there....Solvang on Friday and Saturday for the Roadster show and MSA on Sunday with the Z...

No Craig and I are not related, we joke that we are long lost cousins... Both with the same last name and both Datsun enthusiasts. Craig also has several roadsters and had a 240Z until he sold it about 2 years ago.

I was approached by Paramax recently for a photo shoot of my Z and my friend Craig Carter's BSR replica 510 for an article than ran in a Japanese magazine called Lightning. Here is a link to the photos and article. If you look really closely you'll see a photo of my BSR Roadster and new 510 project. Enjoy. http://datsunracing.us/Lightning/index.html R
  11. That is great news! Hector is a great guy and a good friend. I wish we all could have found a solution to get out there with our cars...Guys I want to thank you for all your support. I am sorry, it is just too much $$$ for me to handle to ship my car out there and back for this event.... I tried everything I could to make it happen and its just not in the cards this year. Mazda will be the title sponsor for the next 3 years...We will keep working on a solution, but I think we will be looking at next year at the earliest. Ron

  13. Wow, I would be a bit nervous racing that one...it's too pretty. The wheels are clearly Panasports, and who ever has done the work on the exterior has done a nice job. It is interesting that they are running this car in E Production. There should be several other cars in that class that would overpower it and out handle it. With a few changes it would be legal for vintage, and would be great fun.... Does anyone know who Scott Green is? R PS did you see the signboard made up for the car, it is a DASTUN!
  14. Absolutely! The point is for everyone to share their opinion. One of the editors of Classic Motorsports Magazine (the title sponsor of the Mitty) asked a few of us to post on the boards to determine what are the 10 best Japanese race cars of all time. I am sure when he sent this around that he was referring to cars that could be found in the USA as they are looking to put that group of cars together for the mitty.(a little late but better than not at all). But for my own knowledge I wanted to know what is out there and a more global opinion. Which Alan and a few others provided. Regardless, I will forward the choices on the poll to Bill McDonald at CMM. And perhaps find a way to get to the Mitty afterall... R
  15. Thanks All, any last minute entries we should not overlook?
  16. Sadly Nissan will not even haul the BRE 510 across the country, so I would not count on a contigency from Japan. Alan, this is a great list of Nissan /Nismo cars. a brief explanation of their place in history for those of us who dont know would be apreciated. Upon receipt I will put the poll together. Alan, very well put, Nissan is sadly behind the curve here. I dont know who can right the ship.... Your right, and I will....I agree 26th, Chris and his team are busting butt to make this happen, and I want to support them in any way possible. This is not the time or the place for this.... Chris these will be added to the list as well, thanks for your input, hope to see you at the Mitty!
  17. gnosez, I suspect Mr K will make this his last Z convention, and that will all but kill the national convention and severely cripple the ZCCA. I have had discussions with Chris Wenzel and have warned him that such a situation is a distinct possibility, and that it will effect the 07 convention it FL. Case in point, 2 years ago at the LA Auto show, Porsche rolls out the production based Carrera GT. Their display is an homage to the cars that came before the new models. They have old 912's next to Carrera 4's, a Porsche spider from a museum...a few misc vintage race cars and their finest new cars all mixed together. Here is a company that supports its roots. The POC is one of the finest clubs anywhere with strong ties to racing. This year at the All Import show in Long Beach, Toyota shows up with a semi full of beautiful rare Toyota's including a 2000 GT. Nissan does nothing. Although in attendance there are more Datsuns than any other marque. Nissan, feels that they cant or should not support us. They are not Promoting DATSUN, they are promoting NISSAN. They feel that it is not worth the investment to promote their past because they are not selling DATSUNS any more. It just kills me, a manufacture needs to realize that someone who has purchased a Datsun / Nissan once is likely to do so again. Why do they think it is not necessary to promote their heritage and consumer confidence!? I purchased a 05 Armada! I cant tow my Datsun race cars with a Toyota! come on!!! Regardless, I have gone out of my way to help Nissan when they have asked, and they have asked a few times. My car has been in a few Nissan advertisements and on their web site....I would hope that one day soon they would realize that Datsun history is important to the Nissan brand.
  18. wow gnosez, you hit the nail on the head....I think it is a budget thing with the upcoming move.
  19. tell you what Alan and Alpha, you can add to this post. Who would you choose?! I will put together a poll with a mixture of your suggestions and my suggestions.. I will tell you that I am NOT a student of the international Datsun scene so other than Big Sam I dont know who you would want to include. Feel free to chime in and add something instead of complaining. What I listed was MY list, and are MY choices. Feel free to add yours. Ron
  20. Hey I appreciate this, please be sure to let CMM know what your interested in seeing at the Mitty...DATSUNS!!!
  21. Sign up and let CMM know how you feel! Here is a link to their forum, and the information regarding the Mitty. http://www.grmotorsports.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=14236
  22. Sadly, it has been very quiet....I have not gotten any response what so ever from Nissan.
  23. Moderators I think this would be a great poll and CMM is looking to put this group of cars together at the Mitty!! My list starts a follows: 1) BRE #46 240Z /BRE #03 240Z 2) BRE #46 510 3) BSR #33 240Z 4) BSR #33 CP Roadster 5) BRE #46 Roadster 6) Shelby Toyota 2000 7) BRE Off Road 240Z 8) BSR 280ZX 9) BRE Off Road 510 10) Scoville Datsun Roadster

I would rather have a Datsun with racing history. I think everything that can be said, has been said about this car and it's current owner.
  25. These cars are around, although I dont think I have seen this particular one. There used to be a black one in the San Jose (close to San Francisco) area. Also a guy who's screen name is Hoover either here or on Hybrid Z used to have a white one and it was for sale a few years back... In truth without a Vin or License number this is going to be a hard car to find....There are a few around, you just need to look in other places.... Good luck
