  16. Which is the most practical air filter for 42DCOE's on a 2.8L 240Z? 1. Individual K&N Filters (already have these so it's the easiest for me ... just need to get a heat shield) 2. Air horn socks / covers. These appear to be simple metal mesh filters. Honestly these look 'cool' and would really show off the air horns. 3. Single large air filter assembly with integrated heat shield (about $200 + cost of air filter ... likely $300 total). 4. Other exotic 'cold air boxes', carbon filter, etc. These seems to be more applicable to racing than something for the street. I'm currently leaning towards the K&N, but that leaves me with a need for a decent heat shield over my ceramic coated headers. I saw a link for a JDM shield (stainless steel I believe) that was in the $150 range. Seems like something I could fabricate for far less.
  17. One exit down in Mead. BTW, I found a great guy nearby who does welding and fabrication for a reasonable fee (good / inexpensive usually don't go together these days). If you need floor pan, fabrication, or rust repair work ... he's good.

I've posted some pics of my similar situation although I think my front clip repair is more significant than yours. Using a rust free and straight front clip we used a frame jig and replaced everything forward of the struts. I'll post pictures when done.
  19. The only repaint will be the rocker. The engine bay needed to be re-done. The front fenders and hood were removed prior to the bodywork, so they too are done. My plans are to do the suspension (bushings, struts, and springs), brakes, and drop in a new engine (I had one I rebuilt that's in need of a home). I figured with engine out of the car I should go ahead and do the things I needed to do. The car came with a set of triple 42DCOE's. I suspect I'll have something that drives by Spring. This is my Winter project.
  20. This is a follow-up to my other post. I'm sure others have seen worse. We'll be fixing these areas of damage on the front frame. It seems as if one side was sort of repaired and on the other side it seems they burned holes where there was rust. Odd.
  21. I picked what I thought was a nice Z. Closer inspection showed front end damage. We're replacing the whole front clip from the struts forward and the driver side rocker. Car goes to the fabricator today. There are misc metal issues that will be addressed including some fixing up of the floor pan, some minor work on the frame rails, and spot welding of some clips and such that fell off. I'm considering drilling out the spot welds that hold the battery tray in and then cleaning up that area and then re-welding it up ... well see how it goes. If you look at the pictures you can see it has a great paint job ... new weatherstrip, Konig rewinds, new tires, and good chrome. The former owner meant to go all the way with the car, but ran out of money - common story.
  22. I just purchased a 240Z and it has both a Pertronix Ignitor and a MSD 6AL. I've owned other 240Zs and used the Pertronix system with just a regular coil. What's the advantage (if any) of the MSD 6AL and the Pertronix? To be honest ... I'm not even sure the MSD 6AL is even hooked up.
  23. I've heard people say that I should go to Home Depot and buy their weathership material for some of the foam-like strips under my front fender. I did buy the MSA inner to outer fender weatherstrip pieces. What about those square pieces on the top of the inner fender. Any recommendations? What's there now (see picture) has crumbled to dust.
