California Datsun?!? Not sure I would trust them that it was truly NOS. They have been shady in the past. Just my opinion from hearsay, I have never bought from them.

I neglected to reply after your dash sold. Looks like you ended at a good price. eBay auctions always have snipe bidding at the end when the item is good and there are multiple bidders. Well done!
  3. I was surprised as well. I was never going to use these as I have a 70 with 4 screw carbs. The PO of the 73 had bead blasted the entire carbs and said they were rebuilt, but a quick inspection indicated they were not rebuilt just cleaned up visually. I had never thought any of the flat tops were worth much for resale. I still kept them thinking some parts might be needed by someone. I would think the 180 mesh you have is closer to the stock mesh. As for the filters being unnecessary, I disagree. All cars, new and old ones have some sort of fuel filter. To each there own I guess. I might have to try these on eBay.......
  4. I never did mess around with the flat tops much. These are pretty fragile filters. Just thought I would check them out following your post. I agree with Zed Head, many other ways to filter. Quite a challenge to try and reproduce these, IMO. I can appreciate your attempt.
  5. No problem, The one close up wheel pic you showed was for a late 73 (TOPY 11 73). I was kinda looking for 70 wheels. Looks like your having a fun time with the car. Enjoy....... If you haven't already I highly suggest you download this It can answer a lot of your questions. https://www.classiczcars.com/files/file/66-1970-240z-factory-service-manual-body-chassis-volume/ and this one: https://www.classiczcars.com/files/file/20-1970-71-240z-factory-service-manuals/
  6. I am interested in the stock wheels, PM me with a price. I have some 14" turbines and slots if that is what you were thinking of for "era" wheels.
  7. Follow your dream, sell this to me, and fund your 4X4 old truck project. ? Seriously.....It is a great find, and a nice looking car from what I have seen in your pic's.

Just popped up on my searches, 8/77 280Z 1 owner on Vancouver Is. 68K miles stated. Auto with a sunroof. Looks pretty stock / original. Just sharing....... https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/d/seattle-1978-dastun-280z/6812642858.html

I checked my 5/71 which has the "Series 2" style center console (ash tray in the middle) and the later style choke lever / mount. There is no bracket hanging down to mount the cable (post #22). It does however still have the earlier gas pedal with the tab on the top. (also post #22) My 72 and 73 gas pedals do not have the tab. So they must have made up a bunch of pedals with tabs then just used them up late 71 to early 72. Although they stopped spot welding on the bracket for the cable a lot earlier.

Yes the correct pedal is part of the whole set up. In all the cars I've seen, the pedal with the extra tab were left in the cars. No need to change that out when they removed the cable and lever assembly. Later models do not have the tab. My car had the bracket fixed under the dash where the cable sheath locks into place. From there the ball end of the cable hooks to the pedal tab, pulling above the fulcrum engaging the throttle.

The throttle lever was considered unsafe for the US, and the dealers had to pull the levers out of the cars before they sold. They can still be found occasionally, on eBay and the like. A guy on FB DPAN says he has a lever and knob. Not sure if it includes the mount and cable though. Repo knobs found at http://www.240zrubberparts.com/apps/webstore/products/show/4818298 (Out of stock currently)

It appears there are extra OP parts (both discontinued) for the wires and a clip for the door. It does look like they plug right into the dash harness as mentioned above. Still there would have to be some path through the door and A pillar as you mentioned. Like adding speakers to a bare door. Some plastic or rubber grommets, and some rubber flex conduit, or the like.

It looks like they mount in the lower portion of the door card, to illuminate on the ground as you step out right? These spots look appropriate as they are under the arm rest. They line up better with your other pic of the door too. I would think power would be run from the door jam push switch by the hinge, so they come on as you open the door like the interior light.
  15. There is a third piece that goes across the middle. 240's had the front turn signals mounted in those corners. The 280 had the turn signals moved up to the grill.

Hi Garrett, Thanks for the info on the dash. A real shame about it being damaged, even if it is just a small crack. Especially if you are doing a show room restoration. I suppose I really can't say how it was packed from the factory, having never bought one from Nissan. My 70 has an un-cracked original dash, and I was very fortunate to find a 72 dash at a junk yard with no cracks that I picked up for a spare. I also have a few seriously cracked ones. It looks like your eBay dash is on track to sell for the price of a Vintage Dashes replacement. I hope your restoration project goes well for you. Nice that there is now a replacement source for these.

If I had this in the box as shown, I would have added a nice nest of bubble wrap, or some other packing so it didn't bang around in the box. You can see where the radio mounts have been digging into the box. Just a plastic bag is no packing at all. I hope the seller packs it better to ship it.

The prices on the COPART site are in $CAD So the bid of $1150 CAD is only $864 USD, but the reserve is not met yet. The listed value of $18,000 CAD is really $13,530 USD. Not knowing where the reserve is, it may still get to high for a parts car. Then add on the cost of going to get it, or have it shipped.
  19. I was thinking the same, the damage does't look to bad in the pic's. You never know for sure until you look at it in person. "Another project...!?!" I was thinking that too.......hole in the head. Might just have to "watch it" manually, just to see where it ends up price wise.
  20. Looks like a forgot to add the link....... https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/datsun/240z/2196231.html#&gid=1&pid=10 Also interesting is today it list the auction as 1-18-19 and the auction estimate is lower at $1154.00 When I click the BID NOW button it takes me to.....here https://sca.auction/en/23847905-1973-datsun-240z That site says it is not ready for sale. The second site says they are in Miami FL., and that the car is in Los Angeles. The SCA site has the usual set of rules for bidding, like a $250 fee for a membership. A $250 transaction fee, $55 documents fee, $25 yard entry fee, an auction house fee, vehicle storage fee, sales taxes, etc etc etc.... .
  21. Just ran across this auction. not too bad of condition. It looks better off in the front than the blue 77 280 does. "Transmission Unknown" haha
  22. Here is the new link I mentioned. https://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/cto/d/cornelius-1977-datsun-280zx-classic/6792668176.html He added this pic, and now has it as a 280ZX
  23. He also has a 10/70 single for $200 in a separate ad. https://seattle.craigslist.org/est/wto/d/bellevue-datsunz-stock-oem-steel-wheel/6792080617.html
  24. I have seen many times over where this, and other forum people indicate they are going to restore something like this. After an in person inspection, this one might just turn out to be a parts car candidate. It is priced okay for that. (I'm not looking, just sharing the ad) The seller added a new picture of a "finished dream car" to spark you enthusiasm to buy and build it. and added the "0" to the 280Z
  25. Extremely rare part, Side Marker retainer - 26182-OET1B
