  1. Wow Jim that is a horrible story. I saw this guys ads on OfferUp and there was a sketchy look, sound and feel to them. he claimed to have a 70 and a 72 for sale but I never contacted him. Sounds like a good thing I didn't. Sad but true that there are some people out there just to rip you off. I wonder how many others got the same treatment. He had listed the two cars I mentioned on eBay as well, and another 70 for $15K. I suspect they are all POS's and the buyers got scamed. If I remember right S30Driver got his bumpers from me a while back when he was in WA, and was pleased with them. I have two other sets of bumpers right now (70 and 73), that are not perfect, but would offer them up if you want to go that route. S30 has some good suggestions too. I don't post things like that on eBay because of the shipping cost. I normally list the bigger stuff locally on CL or OU. I would take more care in the disassembly of course. The smaller the box the better the shipping rate. I do have a saws-all too for the best rate.
  2. From Lithuania
  3. Hi 87mj, Not to suggest this is your only solution, but it might be one to consider. I would think if you had a weakened spring, the fix would not be to just install a taller isolator as you would still have a weak spring in there. Prone to bottoming or complete failure. I would put in new (old) springs, and struts as well if they were still original too. Just my opinion by what you describe. I have a set of stock springs from an early 74 260Z (vin 20xxx) which were the 240 style suspension set up. The springs are listed separately in the carpartsmanual.com parts list as late 73 to early 74. There is some mention of a ratio but that part is cut off on the website. I would expect these to be a little higher spring rate than the earlier cars as the overall weight of the car was going up through the years. I have not seen any specifics for spring rates in my searches but it should be out there somewhere. Perhaps it would work out for you. I am sure others might have suggestions too. TZ

Yeah it is a shame to see the early ones get parted out, but at least the parts live on in other Z's. Not just a hunk of metal at the crusher.

Not my car, I do not know the seller. Ran across this ad last night. Before he had a price for the whole car, and the rare items sold. I tried to work a deal but we did not come to terms, oh well. I was too late for the rare parts and he wanted too much for the remainder, at least for me. https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/5896774637.html
  6. Thanks for the picture of it mounted. I was wondering if the mount tabs were on top of the carpet or under as you have shown. Looks better under the carpet. The other issue I see is the mount/pivot brackets are both going the same direction. Meaning it is set up for the left side of the car, and I am putting it on the right. I expect I will need to remove the pivot rivets and remount the pads the other way, to get it to sit as shown but in mirror on the other side of the car. Otherwise it will sit further away from the tunnel. Still need to work things out.
  7. Yeah $400 for the motor, $350 for the Trans, and $100 for the ECU. $700 if you buy it all. Plus a bridge toll to get it back to the mainland. (or a long drive)
  8. Not my sale I am not sure if these are all Z tools, the seller does not specify other then the letter Z in the title descriptions. All start at a low price but have a reserve. I know there are some tool collectors out there. http://www.ebay.com/sch/Datsun-Nissan/13561/m.html?item=322338513705&hash=item4b0cdf6329%3Ag%3Ahc4AAOSw44BYL7gb&_ssn=jjperformance06
  9. Well, I do not need to have factory washers and nuts, I am sure I can make it work. Thanks for the purchase and the extra info.
  10. Flagged for removal, not deleted by the seller. Here is what the ad looked like for those who did not see it.
  11. That is interesting my fiche looks different for this slide and only shows two flange nuts. I would still use a big washer under the car for sure, perhaps one on the inside as well.
  12. There is a curious line in the ad about the car sitting for 4 years before the seller had purchased it this winter. It is still this winter isn't it. I sent him a message asking about it, we'll see what he says about it. The ad has been up for 8 hours now.....
  13. This is not my car, I do not know the seller. Just ran across a new CL ad in Skagit Co. Wa It looks in nice shape in the pic's, and the owner lists lots of new parts, runs and drives, and matching numbers, etc. Listed Price is $4012 Not sure if that is a typo or not. Worth someone looking into I'd say. http://skagit.craigslist.org/cto/5889091223.html
  14. I was thinking the same thing, a large washer or flat bar brace for support. I looked up the part in the S30 parts book and they only show two flange nuts for mounting. I wonder if they had built in some reinforcement. They show the foot bar and nuts as "Optional" HaHa
  15. The package was in the Post Office today, a little mushed from coming all the way from Hawaii but the part looks fine. No damage! I was thinking of a Rubber washer or perhaps fender washers with some silicone or POR to seal it up. I am always game for new items the wife thinks will be a good idea. She had some mid 80's Recaro's in an old 4 Runner she had before we met, I have her convinced we need to retro them into the Z. Sake Kit Kats!!!! Hell yeah!!!!!! Those are awesome. Thanks Greg.
  16. It looks like Zero feedback is bidding on both radios from this seller. I ofter wondered if scammers get their buddies to bid up items like these to increase the price. Then if the scammers friend ends up winning the bid, the scam is to say the "winner" backed out and offer it to you is a second chance offer. (Not saying this is the case, it still could be all on the up and up.) This eBay seller is however balking on the shipping cost of the bumper he sold to another member here. Trying to up the rate after the sale. Not honoring your terms of the sale is a big red flag for me. It is still in transit, takes a little longer to get here from the Islands. Tracking shows it departed a nearby city last night so I expect it will be here today or tomorrow. I live outside of one of those small one stoplight towns. My car is in great shape but is not perfect, it's had a few modifications already. My floors are not rusted but the were a little beat up from the PO not sure if he uses a weird jack or what. I do have some anxiety drilling into the floor but I expect I will do it. The wife likes the idea of a footrest, and I think it will be a cool addition to my Z. It might be a while before I install it, but I will post about it then.
  17. Thanks Mike, I did see this had been moved to "For sale" last night, and understand now why folks thought these were my parts for sale. I do a lot of searches and find interesting items at times. I do buy and sell some pieces as well. I will make it a point to double proof read my posts now. I also get hit with the auto correct and it can change the entire context of the sentence or paragraph.
  18. Looks like it was tortured, and it gave up the flip lid.
  19. Okay here is a new item, a fuse cover/ashtray for $200 that looks like is has seen many butts. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Datsun-240z-Series-1-Ash-Tray-/252643799010?hash=item3ad2be6fe2:g:EvEAAOSwal5YMOBo&vxp=mtr
  20. This is the link to all the items listed. Looks like a missed adding the link. Was up early for work and had not had my coffee yet. The parts are not mine, just thought I would share as it will be a bidding war rather than a BIN price. I live about 50 miles from Graham WA. There was two listing for Z's from there recently a 70 https://offerupnow.com/item/detail/169467849/1970-240z and a 72 https://offerupnow.com/item/detail/168935538/72-240z Both are still showing up on OfferUP, but I also saw the same cars on eBay so I think they are sold now. Not sure if it is the same seller or not, but from the same city. I will try and make sure I add the links in the future. You found them though.
