  1. Out of the 8 of these that I have, this one is in the worst condition. The switch seems okay. Yours if you want it Jim. Shipping would be about $8
  2. Don, My reasons for opting for a lighter flywheel is in the same realm as EuroDat, to compensate for the 240mm disc. It will also make the car rev a "little" quicker as it is still under the stock package weight. Agreed the Fidanza is too light for street use at 10.7 lbs. I think mine is 14.5 lbs and with the 240mm clutch weight it should be a happy medium (full clutch plate, not the 6 puck race plate.) I have read it is easier to stall the car from a dead stop so there will be a little foot reaction learning curve I'm sure. With the cam I have my car likes the higher RPM's, 3000 and up range anyway, I wanted to make the throttle response a little snappier. You could just have two or three pounds taken off yours, to gain a little of that snap but retain all of the daily driver ability. You don't have to buy a new lightened flywheel there are places that turn and balance the stock one. Option options options.......Do what you think is the best for your driving style.
  3. The stock 72 shifter can work with some grinding like Siteunseen mentioned. For the earlier cars like your's and mine (70) with the A trans. I hear some trimming is still needed at the tunnel opening and possibly the console too. This is the stock one Some take and bend a s curve in the one above and it clears the tunnel. This is sorta like the Nismo one that is NLA. I just bought a parts car and it had one like this in it. A Nissan truck has this one that I have been looking for. I finally found one at Tumwater Pick N Pull The one on the bottom. It has the same base as the ZX shifter. Don, if you are going with a 3:70 (same one I picked) you need the blue speedo cog, you can get just the cog 32703-78102 and mount it into the ZX holder. Your old 4 speed holder will not work in the new ZX trans. If your 2+2 trans does not have the holder you can still get the assembly from Nissan with a blue cog in it (32702-58S18) While the trans is out I would replace the front and rear seals too. Agreed EuroDat, It is a whole package either way all 225mm or all 240mm I am going with a 240mm kit with the 240mm collar that came with my 2+2 trans and a lighted flywheel. I weighed my new 240mm kit against the old stock 225mm kit (flywheel, pressure plate, and clutch disc) and it was only 6 or 7 pounds lighter overall. I didn't want it to rev like an indy car. (too light) TZ
  4. I think there are 3 different ones, with the later two being very similar other than the slight difference in the 5th ratio. 280 ZX (8/78-7/79) FS5W71B 5 spd "B" type 3.321 2.077/37% 1.308/37% 1/24% 0.864/14% also 810 Maxima 280 ZX (8/79-6/80) FS5W71B 5 spd "B" type 3.062 1.858/39% 1.308/30% 1/24% 0.773/23% 280 ZX (7/80-6/83) FS5W71B 5 spd "B" type 3.062 1.858/39% 1.308/30% 1/24% 0.745/26% I believe you use one clutch or the other. The throwout collar is different as well. You will need to address the shifter clearance at the tunnel opening. I am putting the same set up together myself. I just found a shifter that should work without having to trim anything out of the tunnel. I haven't tested it yet though.
  5. I can offer two complete carbs for parts if you are interested in that option.
  6. The clutch is bigger (240mm / 225mm) on the 2+2, but that really has no effect on the transmission itself.

A little late chiming in here........ Another thing we hoarders need is racking. I picked up this blue one for $40 off CL. It is 100sf in a 25sf space, worked out pretty good. Just went out today and added to the hoard. There is a 9/71 at a local yard. I grabbed the doors, scoops (one fiberglass), pedals, sill plate trim, grill, and some smalls. I keep a a nice set of spares for my car, and sell the rest to fund the projects and my hoarding diZease . Finding the stuff is almost half the fun. The better than half is driving my Z !!!!!!!

Hey Jerry, I have this one, it looks as if a PO had tried to glue the horn pad on or something, so it is in need of some clean up.

Those warranty covers are interesting. Does the dealer assembles them with the warranty card and include printed information inside the outer cover as in my pic? If so, how do they get the staples to appear under the blue outer coating as in unseens's pic of a completed book? Mine is printed on the inside, and has the staples covered like unseens too. I would think the warranty books would be made and stapled in Japan, and come with the car to the dealer. I would Completely expect a dealer would have the window stickers with a dot matrix printer that fills out the info for the car they have. Cool to have a blank one. I would also be interested in buying a set just for a cool display. Just saying', It might not have been such a bad purchase after all
  11. I was surprised the engine was not sitting in the passenger compartment. With the rear tire like that it would be easy to parallel park.

I guess I should copy the pics over so the thread will last longer than the car is for sale. Next time.......

You are probably right about that, or a RB or KA. Something might show up as a build on Hybrids. To each, their own..........

It is possible he never sold the radio as he first told me back in Nov. Now the radio is $800 and the rest of the car comes with it for free.

Ah you have fallen for the trickery, please note the sold list. The bottom pic is the most recent. No steering wheel. When I talked to him at the first post he said the radio was spoken for even though he did not include it's name in the sold list. It's best asset now is an E31 head and an 71A trans. parts that are already gone are as follows;seatsseatbeltsigniton switchdoorshatchdashfendersSteering wheel horn buttonAshtraycenter console

Funny I thought that as well. Also isn't the radio supposed to sit outside of the center panel?

I sympathize with you JLP. I ended up converting an entire room to parts storage. Kind of a Datsun parts man cave, complete with a wood stove.

True enough, eBay Motors does not conduct business outside of an eBay transaction. I told her to have the car delivered and I would pay cash. No response. I suppose the scam works sometimes, or else why would they keep posting these ads? CL = deal in person / eBay = deal within eBay.

Sounds a lot like this one from late Nov. but with a new car for bait. I am a LT of USAF and I was transferred to Hickam AFB in HI for a 5 years period and because they cant ship all my cars here i am asking only $4,000 for this one. My Datsun is garaged at the Logistic Department at Fairchild AFB ready to go. No rust, garage kept,no accidents, clear title under my name. The shipping will be free for you because I will transport the car using a military trailer. The financial part will be managed by eBay Motors, which means you will have a 5 days inspection period BEFORE committing to buy my car. In this way we are covered during the steps of this transaction. Pics : http://s36.photobucket.com/user/reDatsun240z/library/
  25. The price of patina is going up. Even at the dropped price. I'm with Jeff on a price of $400 not $4000
