Cleaning 240z Dashboard
I have an uncracked 240z dashboard sitting in my garage that has small specks of overspray on it in some places. I used armor all on it today and some black started coming off onto the rag. Has anyone else experienced that? What is the best cleaning agent that will remove overspray without damaging the dash?

Restoring/Disassembling 240z Tail Lights
Anyone have any recommendations?

Restoring/Disassembling 240z Tail Lights
What brand of adhesive/sealant would you guys recommend for reattaching the lenses to the bodies? Also, do the rubber pads that were between the lens and the body have to be there when the lights are sealed back together? because the rubber pieces on mine were wasted so I threw them out. I'm assuming a thick blob of some type of adhesive/sealant can replace those couple rubber pieces.

Restoring/Disassembling 240z Tail Lights
Esprist's method worked perfectly. I think mine were tougher to get off than yours because there was some sort of adhesive glue holding it on. Esprist, what did you use to replace the original gasket (sealant maybe) that secured the lens to the body?

Door lock mechanism
I posted a thread a while back ago describing this same exact problem. Loosen the screws around the mechanism and then try to turn in back in the right direction. That worked for me and I had the same exact problem as you. Let me know if that works.

Restoring/Disassembling 240z Tail Lights
I have a pair of 240z tail lights that are in amazing condition, but they are extremely filthy and covered in masking tape residue. I need to separate the lens from the body without breaking anything. Can someone explain to me how to do this? I read in one thread that the lens and body will seperate if you submerge them in hot water; has anyone else tried this method? Also, does anyone know how I can remove the old tape residue from the lenses without damaging the plastic? The best way I can think of is using duct tape.

Best Method for Restoring 240z Steering Wheel
I need advice on how to spray the wheel with the semi-gloss urethane. How did you guys do it? Did you hang it up somewhere when you sprayed it? When you talk about applying multiple layers of lacquer, do you just wait a few minutes in between each coat or do you have to wait 24 hours before you can apply another coat?

Best Method for Restoring 240z Steering Wheel
Okay, here's my 240z's steering wheel with the spokes freshly painted and the rim sanded. I sanded the rim for hours and this is as light as the wheel will come. I washed and scrubbed it 2 times with murphy's oil soap. I'm planning on applying one or two coats of minwax antique maple stain(same color as cherrywood just a little more reddish). What do you guys think? Will the lighter color stain accentuate the color of the steering wheel? or will it not blend in correctly?

240z Front Bumper
Are these still available from Nissan? I found the most current part number in the Nissan FAST system but it's not available. I'm probably going to buy one for $550 from new-datsun-parts.com. Is that a fair price for a brand new 240z bumper?

Best Method for Restoring 240z Steering Wheel
I sanded the crap out of it, but the wheel still has the original color in it. Does that matter? I'm hoping the stain will blend with the old color and not stand apart from it.

Best Method for Restoring 240z Steering Wheel
I cleaned the wood/plastic rim of the steering wheel with Murphy's Oil Soap and an SOS soap pad. The rim is now very dry and dull looking, but some of the original finish is still there in spots. For those people who have refinished their steering wheel, did you make sure to completely remove the old finish before staining it? I noticed that some people just cleaned the wheel and applied lacquer without staining it. If I were to do that, wouldn't the color of the wheel remain the same after lacquer is applied?

Adjusting 240z Hood
I've read some instructions on how to adjust the hinges on a 240z's hood to get it to line up properly, but all of the instructions I read were very unclear. The hood on my 240z is off center; when the hood is closed, there's barely any space between the driver's side fender and the hood and plenty of space on the passenger's side. Also, the hood is not sitting flush with the headlight bucket on the driver's side(it's slightly elevated above the headlight bucket). Does anyone have any labeled photos or detailed instructions on which bolts/nuts i need to turn to get the hood aligned properly?

Need Another Part # - Quarter Windows Front Seals
Does anyone know if the early 240z's are supposed to have this seal or not?

240z Firewall Grommets
Actually, I can't find any of the firewall grommets in the Nissan FAST system. Would anyone happen to know what category they are under?
-
240z Firewall Grommets
Does anyone have the Nissan part numbers for the carb/choke cable grommet and the wiring grommet? I'm pretty sure MSA has neither of those. I haven't been able to find any of the grommets in the Nissan diagrams except for the heater hose ones.
-
240z Firewall Grommets
I already have the heater hose grommets for my 240z, but I can't seem to find the other grommets that are located at other places on the firewall. I believe there are 2 more grommets besides the heater hose ones. One is for the choke cables and the other is for electrical wires. Does anyone have the Nissan part numbers for these grommets?

240z Door Latch Mechanisms
Are the latch mechanisms part of the door lock assemblies that MSA sells?
-
240z Door Latch Mechanisms
Does anyone know if new door latch mechanisms are available anywhere? I'm referring to the mechanism that slams into the door striker and secures the door shut. The ones on my 240z seem to be pretty beat up and are not functioning smoothly.

Need Another Part # - Quarter Windows Front Seals
I don't know what I was thinking, but there are not 3 screws on my quarter window. Here's a picture of the area where that seal is supposed to go. It looks like the man who owned it before me fabricated some kind of metal piece to put in there in place of the rubber seal. Is this factory or is there supposed to be a channel for the rubber seal to slide into.
-
Need Another Part # - Quarter Windows Front Seals
I was assuming they screwed in because there are 3 screws on each of the quarter windows on my 240z where the seals are supposed to go. I'll have to go check, but maybe there is a channel where they just slide in.
-
Need Another Part # - Quarter Windows Front Seals
Does anyone have the part number for the rubber seals that screw onto the front of the quarter windows(in between the door window frame and quarter window)? I just discovered these seals and didn't know they even existed b/c they're missing from my 240z.

Engine Compartment Air Ducts
Thanks for finding those for me. Under what category did you find those? And do you have the part numbers for the screws that hold those in?
-
Engine Compartment Air Ducts
Does anyone know the Nissan Part Numbers for these things? I can't find them in the diagrams and I want to check with Nissan to see if they are still available before I pay too much for them.

Need Part Number for this Part
Does anyone have the Nissan part number for this part? I have no idea what it's called and I can't find it in the Nissan part diagrams.

240z Master Vac Hoses
Does anyone know where to get the 2 master vac hoses for a series 1 240z? I can't seem to find them anywhere. Nissan no longer has any available and I haven't been able to find them on any other z website.
