  1. I just took one of the interior panels off to try and find the holes for the rear quarter panel emblems, and I see no way of finding them. There is a piece of metal covering the area where the holes would be. Has anyone put these emblems on when the holes were filled? The holes for the hood emblem were easy to see, but I cannot see the holes for the rear quarter panel emblems from the outside.
  2. Yeah I am going to take the interior panels off to find the holes for the quarter panel emblems. I just installed the hood emblem and I drilled the holes perfectly; the drill bit went right through the bondo/filler like butter. I put some RTV adhesive/sealer on the studs of the emblem, but the emblem wobbles back and forth a lot now that it's installed. Is the hood emblem supposed to fit completely tight?
  3. Does anyone know where I can get original chrome wheel center caps for the mag wheels on my 240z? I'd buy the push-on ones that you see everywhere, but then there will be 4 empty screw holes on each wheel and it will look ridiculous.
  4. That sounds like a good idea. I do have a Series 1 240z, so it will be tricky finding the holes for the quarter panel emblems behind the back windows. I'm probably going to have to find them from the inside and drill from the inside while putting pressure on the outside so I don't split the paint.
  5. The man I bought my 240z from had the car painted and didn't put the rear quarter panel emblems or the hood emblem back on the car. I have new emblems, but I'm worried that I'll crack the paint when I drill the holes for the emblems. I can see where the original holes are for the hood emblem, but I don't know how exactly I should drill so that I don't split the paint around the holes. Any ideas on how I can go about doing this safely?
  6. Do you order your part os Nissanparts.cc? or do you actually go into a nissan parts department and order them?
  7. Can anyone give me the part number for the elbow?
  8. Isn't there supposed to be some sort of sleeve between the threads of elbow and the threads of the valve cover? As you can see in the second picture, the elbow slides right out of the hole.
  9. On my 240z, the L shaped tube that comes out of the valve cover to connect to the breather hose fits very loosely in the whole. I can just pull it right out if I want to. After looking at pictures of other 240z engines, I noticed that there is supposed to be a little sleeve that goes in the hole to make the breather elbow fit tightly in the hole. The problem is, I can't find the damn thing anywhere. Does anyone have one or know where I can get one?
  10. So does the club cd come with a pdf that has all the part numbers listed in it?
  11. So what parts do I need to buy and where can I get them at?
  12. How do I order the club cd?
  13. Does anyone have an up to date Nissan part numbers for bolts and screws for a 240z? I'd appreciate it if everyone could just give me every part number they have. I'd like to replace as many screws and bolts on the car as possible. I'm pretty sure the parts department at the Nissan dealer near me will be able to find almost any nuts or screws i need, as long as I have the correct part numbers.
  14. I recently set the idle to exactly 1,000rpm on my 240z. When I'm driving the car the idle almost never comes back down to 1,000rpm when I come to a stop. I have to tap the gas pedal and let my foot off of it in order for the idle to come back down to 1,000rpm. If I don't tap the gas pedal the idle returns to about 1100rpm. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem?
  15. The man I bought my 240z from installed new factory door panels. I'm planning on replacing the outer door handles and the window rollers. I know from experience that the door panels on the early z's are hard to get off without breaking the clips. What's the best way to remove the door panels without breaking any of the clips? I'd hate to break the clips on brand new door panels.
  16. All of the hardware was still available from the dealer? or just the spring piece? Would you happen to have the part numbers by any chance?
  17. Oh okay I understand exactly where it goes now. I want to buy all new door hardware for the door jams, but I can only find the striker brand new. The spring piece and the flat piece that goes underneath are nowhere to be found. Does anyone know if this door hardware is still available anywhere?
  18. I still don't see that spring piece in the pictures.
  19. Does anyone have a picture? I'm still not clear on how exactly the springy thing attaches to the striker.
  20. Could someone show me a picture of the door jam in a 240z? The doors on my 240z are missing the dove tails, which I just ordered, but I think it might be missing the piece that goes near the door latch. Where is the spring loaded piece supposed to go?
  21. I don't have a timing light. So every time new points are installed the timing has to be adjusted? Is the timing adjusted buy turning the distributor?
  22. Many of the screws and bolts on my 240z are discolored from years of grease/dirt etc.. Is there a certain solution I can soak the screws and bolts in that will restore them to their original look? And what about the aluminum parts of the car that are supposed to be a goldish color? Can those be restored to their original look without having to buy new parts?
  23. I turned the idle screw down on each carburetor and the idle didn't seem to go down at all. I had the car idling at 900rpm and now, after the new points were installed, the idle went is up around 1100rpm.
  24. I installed the points today and made the gap .016 inches, but now the car is idling higher. Does the gap affect the idle of the car? Would I have make the gap larger to bring the idle down a tad?
  25. I have new points and a condenser for my 240z and I forgot how to gap the points correctly. I have the feeler gauge tool to gap the points with, but I need some instructions on how to do this correctly. Does anyone know a website that has good instructions on how to do this? Or could someone explain to me how I'm supposed to gap the points correctly?
