Common Causes for Gas Fumes?
My garage is beginning to smell like gas because my 240z is emitting gas fumes while it's parked. What are the most common causes for gas fumes? I ordered a new fuel filler hose and I was wondering if there are any other fuel hoses that commonly crack on these cars.

240z Engine Smokes
No I did not. I'm not exactly sure of what that even is.

240z Engine Smokes
The oil is brand new. I changed it a couple of weeks ago when I first brought the car home. There's no oil seeping out from the seal between the head and the block.

240z Engine Smokes
Yeah I was thinking the same. The smoke is white.

240z Engine Smokes
My 240z seems to smoke a lot if the car is revved up when it's idling or if the car is cold. Once the car is warmed up it doesn't smoke when it's being driven, but it still smokes a lot if it's revved up when it's idling in neutral. What are all the possible causes of this? I'm thinking it could be a slightly blown head gasket that is causing some water/coolant to mix with the oil.

Filled Hatch Shelf
Yeah I think it does too, i think the man I bought it from did it himself.

Filled Hatch Shelf
I don't know why I didn't think of that myself. Wasn't there a seem all the way across the hatch shelf originally?

Removing White Hazy Marks From Glass
I don't know if anyone else will know what I am referring to, but one of the side windows on my 240z has a white hazy line in the glass from the window roller and the rear window also has white hazy marks all around the edges from louvers that were probably on the car for quite some time. Does anyone know how to remove these hazy marks from glass? Is there any type of cleaner that will get the job done well?

Filled Hatch Shelf
The man I bought my 240z from had the car painted and I noticed that the hatch shelf was filled. I'm thinking that some metal must have been welded into the corners, because the surface is very smooth and feels hard when I knock on it. Is this type of modification usually done to early z cars when they're painted? I know this a common spot where rust can develop on z's, but I hope there wasn't a huge amount of rust in the corners of the hatch jam before it was filled. It seems pretty solid to me.

Original 240z Master Brake Cylinder
Is this original 1970 240z brake cylinder the Tokico one with a 3/4" bore size? I'm planning on buying a new one and want to make sure that it's not some crappy aftermarket one.

240z Overheating When Idling
Could it be a bad fan clutch that's causing the problem?

Aluminum Polish
Here's a picture of the valve cover I'm going to polish. Do you think these scratches(more like dark spots) require sandpaper?

240z Overheating When Idling
What do you mean by idle mixture? Could someone tell me how to properly adjust the idle on a 240z? How should the idle screws on each carburetor be adjusted and how should the main idle screw be adjusted?

240z Overheating When Idling
I noticed that the temperature on my 240z is fine when I'm driving it(just under 1/2), but it sometimes rises to 3/4 when the car is idling at a stoplight. What's causing this problem? Could it be the radiator?

Black Dragon Automotive
I was looking through the black dragon automotive catalog for parts for my 240z yesterday and I was impressed with low prices on certain parts. I called them today to ask if the parts I found are aftermarket or original Nissan parts and they told me that almost all of their parts are aftermarket. Has anyone bought 240z parts from them? Are they different from original parts? I was planning on buying outer door handles, the lower window molding, an ignition swtich etc., but I don't like the idea of buying aftermarket parts.

240z Speaker Bracket
The bracket that mounts the back speaker in place on my 1970 240z is missing along with the speaker. Where the heck do I get one of these? I can't install a new speaker without the bracket. The 240z's came with only one speaker in the back on the driver's side, correct?

Aluminum Polish
What do you guys think is the best aluminum polish for removing oxidation and scratches? The valve cover on my 240z has nicks all through it; hopefully they will polish out. I'm guessing I'll need a pretty abrasive polish to get the job done right.

Best Method for Restoring 240z Steering Wheel
I've read some threads about restoring a 240z steering wheel, but I'm not sure what method I should use to restore mine. Someone mentioned using an SOS soap pad, which sounds like a good idea. What do you guys think is the best way to restore the wood on a 240z steering wheel to its original look?

Installing Emblems- Drilling through paint
Yeah I see what you mean. The only problem is that the holes cannot be seen from the backside because of the metal blocking that area of the quarter panels. Maybe I should just make new holes??

Installing Emblems- Drilling through paint
Did you end up using Automotive GOOP for your hood emblem? Or did you use RTV?
-
Installing Emblems- Drilling through paint
So if I use some Automotive GOOP for the emblem, will it also seal the holes and prevent any rust from forming?
-
Installing Emblems- Drilling through paint
The double sided tape seems like a good idea, but wouldn't it eventually lose its grip to the paint after water getting underneath the emblem? Does anyone know of any other adhesive that would secure the emblem tightly to the hood? I realized that the RTV adhesive I bought says in fine letters- "Does not adhere to paint".

Installing Emblems- Drilling through paint
It's plastic. Were they originally metal?

Installing Emblems- Drilling through paint
I took the hood emblem off because the RTV adhesive/sealer I used was definitely not holding the emblem securely in place. I bought Clear Silicone RTV Adhesive/sealer. Since I know now that it doesn't work, what kind of adhesive should I buy? I want to get it right this time because I don't want to chip anymore paint off from around the holes on the hood. Should I even be using any kind of silicone adhesive? Silicone doesn't seem to adhere to the paint very well at all.

Installing Emblems- Drilling through paint
Do the clips you're referring to look like this? If that's what you referring to, those clips were on the emblem when I pushed the emblem through the holes. Are these clips supposed to come with the hood emblem?
