  9. They said it has something to do with the detergents in the new stuff eating away at the build up, hence causing things to loosen up! So you add the old with the new, I am no genius at this car stuff but that sounded a little Dumb to me.
  10. Howdy, I have pulled the rear suspension and diff out and will be putting new bushings (Poly)in and a new cover gasket on the diff is there anything I need to be paying attention to with the diff when I have it open? I have heard to reuse part of the Diff fluid with the new? Fact or fiction. Thanks in Advance
  11. My IN/OUT gasket on my 73 240 has given way to blow by in a couple of spots, it was a new gasket and the manifold is straight as far as i can tell with a straight edge. It was prob caused by it not being properly torqued down. What is the proper torque for Exhaust/Intake? Is there a seq. to the tighting? What is a good gasket to use and where to get? Do the bolts and nuts need too to be grade bolts and nuts and any tips for the install? Thanks in advance for the answer to my 1000 ?'s
  12. My 73' does it with regular gas so I run mid grade now. Do you a standard ignition in it or upgraded to electronic?

73' 240z- I blew a fuse to the park tail part of the amp section on fuse block when I was gettin on the gas, this killed all gauges and turn signals. I replaced the fuse and the amp gauge went wacko full tilt + a million on the gauge, so I thought voltage regulator, This is the second voltage reg in a year. The voltage reg is seperate from the Alternator, so I replaced it, it started out OK til I gave it some gas and the amp gauge increased with the RPM's. This lasted a short time, the gauge spiked a couple of times and then settled on the center. The gauge goes to -Neg when the lights are on and will not move above center with any other conditions. The alternator checked good and I purchased a new one, new Alt checks good , which did not change a thing. The battery overheated and has been dropping acid(fluid) on the floor. The Alt is giving 12.53 at the battery and with lights on it is 11.5. I think this is low? What gives? Thanks in advance for any advice

My 73 240 all stock 173,000 mi. is getting about 26mpg combined city and highway. Originally posted by atomrat: I was not sure where this should be posted, so I posted it here. I have a stock '73 240Z, I was wondering what kind of gas mileage I can expect? I have not started to drive it yet. Still have to get the gas tank repaired. If the smog pump on a 73 240 is removed are there adjustments to be made with anything? I have just removed mine and capped the ports. A friend swears that i will get 20 horse more out of the old girl, but could not tell me if any adjustments are to be made.
