    Shiny! verry sparkly! shiny! shiny!
  2. Changing the mounting hardware makes sense especially the exhaust. looking up the Nissan part now.... cannot find genuine Nissan gasket. Nippon Reinz?
  3. Funny, I already saved that article you wrote to my favorites two weeks ago. I was wondering about anything that I may need to apply to the mating surfaces. I used a copper spray when putting head gaskets on my Kh400 but that was a two stroke motorcycle.
  4. I am planning on replacing the manifold gasket on my 77. Any advice from those who have done this before? I plan on giving all of the bolts a liberal soak with PB blaster the day before. What brand of gasket is best? What snags should I expect? ect.
  5. It can be fixed. new rear fender and a new roof. not impossible.

ya mine were rusted also. It's funney how some parts are so hard to find.

Nice start. Looks like you may see some body work soon. is that rust on the ground? Cute puppy.
  8. sorry I did not mean to confuse the issue. I was thinking he disconnected the water temp sensor instead of the sender ujjjjjjjjh (cat walked on keyboard)
  9. not sure the video helps at all. The photo is more than enough. From what I can tell the bearings flew off. Those are bearings, not plugs. they are held in by clips. were they not installed afer pressing them in? You do not need a machine shop to replace these. you can use a c clamp. Hard to tell but if the clips were not put in that would explain why they flew outwards.

Oh, My car is a 280 with the park benches, so I am unfamiliar.
  12. when you unplug the "temp sender" (water temp sensor?), the ECU will get an infinite resistance reading causing way to much fuel delivery this will stall the engine. Did you get a wiff of gas?

    what are euro bumpers?
  14. ditto on checking the fuel pressure. You may have clogged fuel lines. If there is rust in the tank it can clog the fuel pump inlet. You may have a fuel pump that is close to dead. but it sounds like clogged lines.

I had the same problem. The ones from BD are for the 240/260. They probably would fit but not look quite right. I lucked out at the junk yard and found a pair in good shape. How bad is the rust? can you grind off all the rust and recover them?
  17. ewwwww

Cool Looks like all of us with EFI share similar stories. The cool thing is that after pulling out your hair trying to solve these problems it turns out to not be that hard to fix and we become more knowledgeable about how this system works. In my case where the P.O. Hacked the system my making adjustments in order to compensate for a greater malfunction (leaky manifold). or making "mods" (as if they know better than the Nissan engineers).

Is the Z34 not the Z for you? sorry stupid joke. I know how you feel I had a 260 I bought in 1989. I got rid of it because I really did not know much about fixing Z's. Ever since, I had kicked myself for sending it out to the wreaking yard, It had no rust. So to make up for it I saved a 280 from the junkyard 3 years ago, the PO was going to have it towed away. So for $300 I saved a rust holed 280 from DEATH. I love My car.

ummmm ok Something new. BAD water temp sensor. I was suspecting this the last few days. I should have listened to cozeye. I took out the temp sensor and put it in a pot of water with a thermometer and tested the resistance. I got a sideways 8 (no my meter does not really show that). So off to the parts store I bought a new one and tested it for fun and the readings were all spot on. Put it in the car and now the car runs great! I am thinking of putting the spring tension back to the calibrated setting and calling this thing done. But I am still going to look for vacuum leaks and there is a sticky spot on the afm, about 3/4 open it sticks, I am wondering what to do to rectify this. Hmm.
  22. You're car makes me

I have been sprayed in the face not fun! Try this: locate the cold start injector and use a 9 volt battery to activate it. This should relieve the fuel pressure. BUT when you remove the fuel line from the top of the filter remember to do this slowly just to make certain you have relieved the pressure. Also you may need new hoses and hose clamps make sure both are rated for fuel injection systems, I am not sure why part stores often do not carry the hose and the connectors are even harder to locate, they should be common seeing that most cars these day are fuel injected.
  24. The boss at work (General director). Saw me get out of my car for the first time last week. He asked if I restored it myself and I said yes commenting that I bought it for $300 bucks. He said cool it looks like a corvette! he is the boss what can you say?
