- New to the site, but not to z's.
Thats a great idea.... I had not thought of that. I didn't much like the 2+2 until I saw Jay28's.... take a gander at this one.... Great family car! http://classiczcars.com/forums/showpost.php?p=261497&postcount=2- New to the site, but not to z's.
I am 30 years old, out of college, married, and have 3 great kids. Two girls.. ( 2 and 4)..and one son.. (14). My son is looking for his own Z as his first car, and my girls love to get out in the shop with me. My wife loves the fact that I can get out of her hair by working on it all the time. So... I say go for it... and if you have to get that family car, just make sure that the Z gets the garage!- Looking for engine L24-063102

Im getting ready to pull my motor and have it gone through. It will be stock with no modifications except for the intake which is a Bob Sharp with a 4bbl. What in your opinion is the best oil to run after its all said and done.- Restoring chromed plastic trim on door panels
If the process of plating it was not done properly step by step it can create bad adhesion. No way to prevent sloppy workmanship. I was told that sometimes the parts such as yours will last a long time and others peel like crazy... The process.... Firstly, all parts are washed in a special bath to remove any impurities on the surface of the plastic from handling. Then the pieces are hand sanded to ensure proper adhesion and to remove small imperfections and scratches. The parts are then painted with a base coat so the vacuum metalized finish will adhere to the part and then baked to cure the paint. Now the piece is ready for plating. The pieces are placed on racks that are attached to a large carousel which will be loaded into the vacuum chamber for the plating process. In the middle of the carousel there are filaments which aluminum canes are loaded onto. After the carousel has been loaded the chamber is pumped down (all the oxygen removed), the filaments are then fired and like magic all the parts come out shiny. After the parts are plated a top grade urethane clear coat is then applied to protect the finish and then the parts are baked once again to cure the paint.- Differential
Consider this problem solved.... Found a shop that will use a solvent wash and bake system.... Takes one hour and $35.00. Good way to start fresh.... New lube and fresh paint.- A SUBARU JUNKIE (gulp) signing in to say hi!
With that, I cannot seem to locate any dimensions on the wheelwell openings of an early 70s 240Z..... would someone be willing to go out into their garage and measure? I need: 1) Length from front to back, at the lowest point of the wheelwell openings 2) Length from the lowest point of the wheelwell, to the highest point in the arch. 3) Are the front wheel openings the same size as the back? Front... 1) Length from front to back, at the lowest point of the wheelwell openings = 31" 2) Length from the lowest point of the wheelwell, to the highest point in the arch. = 24" Rear... 1) Length from front to back, at the lowest point of the wheelwell openings = 31" 2) Length from the lowest point of the wheelwell, to the highest point in the arch. = 23"- Restoring chromed plastic trim on door panels
www.zcarsource.com They do an awsome job for a resonable price!- Cooling Fan Original Color
Most people don’t have the luxury of being able to blast items, or, they lack the experience. I find that using aircraft stripper works great because it is water soluble and it works instantly. I use it, then a parts washer to completely rinse away stripper, then put it in a parts dryer to finish it up. I have had no problem with permanently joined objects. If done right, it is worry free.- Differential
Starting to tear my extra differential apart. Not all the way, but just enough to put new seals on it and give it a thorough cleaning. My question to anyone who might know is... When i open it up, how do I get all the gear lube cleaned out of it? My parts washer uses a waterbased solvent that is only good if you wash all the parts down immediately after cleaning them so as not to rust them. In a differential that is impossible to do unless I take it all the way apart.- Cooling Fan Original Color
You could use some aircraft remover... Works in min's to remove paint. Spray it on and then wash it off. This way you dont have to wory about removing any metal and throwing the balance off. Follow up with some wax/oil remover, prime and paint! Good luck!- Cooling Fan Original Color
My mistake... I should have read closer.... Too fast to respond!- Cooling Fan Original Color
The original color is the color of the plastic. It is a white molded plastic fan. Its posible you might be able to take it off and use a paint remover that does not harm plastic.- Where does your Z sleep at night?
.....- What did you find under your seat?
When I got the 240Z the first thing I did was give her a good bath. Under the seats I found a vintage Datsun patch, vintage Bob Sharp window stick still attached to backing, a pencil that looked like a beaver got to it, and a hypodermic needle and spoon.... I didn't want to think those last two items had any relation to eachother. Passenger side toolbox had a pair of pliers and a screwdriver. Drivers side box had a pair of mens underpants...( used supplied pliers to remove)... and a box of dried up condoms.- Looking for engine L24-063102
Ok.... There seems to be alot of dicussion over all this. The origional engine was removed during the restoration in the 90's. The tag on the strut tower in the engine bay tells me that the engine # is L24-063102. This is not the engine that is in it. The owner that restored it.... well..... I shouldnt say restored..... but...... Anyways, he sold the engine to a guy in oklahoma but does not have his info. Im just tossing this note out there in hopes he or whomever owns the engine now might read it. 1972 240z HLS30-50836- Going out of business sale!!!!!

I know, I know.... Call it what you want.... A shot in the dark, or needle in a haystack. It's out there somewhere though. Mine runs great but I'm aiming to do a full up resto on it and a numbers matching car would be nice. So....It may be slim but worth a try. L24-063102- 240Z in movies
