Ok, thats hilarious. I have the z and the motorcycle matchbox in my closet somewhere. I want to say its a 260z 2+2 right hand drive. I lived in Japan in the early mid 70s being my dad was Navy, and have plenty of old Japanese toys still somewhere in boxes.

Just from looking at their pic, it seems it would work. Bolt the vertical supports on the square tube on either side of the spare tire well. Whether a a hole needs to be cut in the rear valance is another question. I have been mentally preparing myself for that, came up with a plan to make a removable hatch on the rear valance.

It cant be this easy, can it? U-Haul: 1972 Nissan 240Z Rear Wheel Drive trailer hitch components

Not worth being saved? The ZX with the plastic cover I certain didnt have that set up with the vertical bolt. Looks like the sheet metal got all jillywhacked because of it as well, a little too much flexing.

So did the bumper mount over that horizontal bar to cover it? Awesome pics.

Years ago I had a tow hitch on my ZX, so when Dad decided he had enough of me sleeping till noon the first summer out of high school, and not really having any direction, Dad decided (kicked out gently) it was time I got educated, and I went off to A&P school to be an airplane mechanic. So me and my 81ZX with a Uhaul trailer headed down the road. So, my question is, since that was over 25 years ago, and I'm sure I dont remember how it really towed, has anyone been towing with their Z? I also believe it was the dual axle trailer as well, because I brought a couch. I want to install a hitch system on my 240z I'm restoring for a teardrop camper. Does anyone have any experience doing anything like this? ZX being the slightly bigger car, I'm not really sure on what a 240 will do, if anything for towing. PS, I have the Borg Warner 5 speed I'm putting in the 240, along with a slightly bored out 2.4.
  7. My kids, 15,19, 21, all girls, had to progress is their driving "privilege" of driving. The 15 year old is the last one going through this process. They all started on a 1956 Beetle, then 1965 C20 Pickup 4 on the floor, then at the time 82 280ZX. Then it turned out the 20 yr old when she was 17 was what the insurance companies call a 'risk', so she drove the 280zx full time with collector car insurance for $220/yr. She scoffed at first, but riding the bus to school was worse, then she became very popular when she drove the red Datsun to school, and this was jut 3 years ago, she then became very fond of the 280zx. So there are at least 3 younger types out there who actually like older classic cars. I did all this so they wouldnt be texting and driving and doing nothing but driving until they got their everyday car, it was just for learning "how to drive".
  8. Been going to Delhi for years, everytime descending below 10,000 feet you begin to smell the pollution and by the time you're at the hotel my lungs would be burning. Black funk comes out everytime you blow your nose. Climate change (if you believe the current climate of it) pun intended, and India is a joke, they cant even make the air inhabitable. Maybe billions of US tax dollars will clean it up.
  9. It definitely works during driving. If you open the door, "ding". My first zx was an 81 with no voice warning, my second was an 83, and knew nothing about bitchin Betty, right until "Ding, fuel level is low".
  10. So this prediction is better put together than the one Gore put together for 2010? In your quote above, the key words will be (Would) and (IF). The reason the divide other than "follow the money" aspect of changing climate, is the crystal ball aspect of it. The only thing we know that will happen about climate change is the massive tax burden that will be put upon the citizens and freedoms lost. Poor nations will get this money, and the corrupt governments will do nothing with it. I have been all over the world and not just garden stops, and have seen first hand the division between governments and its people. Boondoggle, theres no other term that fits, well maybe robbery.
  11. Yeah, I dont think 79's had the warning system. I always enjoyed the "Ding" though, well not the "Ding, fuel level is low". I never had enough money.
  12. So are every other talking head in the media complex who brow beat what these politicians say. There are plenty of opposing scientific views on the subject, but they dont make the cut in Prime Time. But we now have a politician who says global warming is one of his first priorities. I can name a few that are more important, but they arent what Progressives deem important.
  13. The key is to decipher alarmism and science, both elusive. It really seems the word science needs to be replaced by hypothesis. "By 2010 the eastern seaboard will be inundates". Science or alarmism? "if we dont do _______ by the year______ (this) will happen". Hey look over there, its a wolf! Whatever happened to the good ole ozone layer scare, Acid rain, etc? Not asking you to do any research BTW, but it may be a fun topic as well, as long as we can learn from it.

  15. I dont, they are buried in boxes of ZX parts in the attic. If your car has the voice warning system, its located just forward of the spare tire well up high. Black box with a typical Datsun plug.
  16. Douglas DC-8. The DC-8-71F is a freighter version of this airplane, and with bigger motors.
  17. Back in the day I used to use several swimming pools of gas crossing the Pacific. If the average person knew what it took to move their rubber dog $^!# to them, some may not have bought it, and the fight against SUVs and cattle would seem every inane. But then again, when I was in Jr. High, were told of the impending Ice Age. So much for science....
  18. I have this Eddy Murphy tape, yes tape.
  19. The war on drugs is a boondoggle at best, trying to control the climate with both arms and one leg hog tied is worse. How would it workout of you mowed your grass, weeded, had professionals visit every 90 days giving you the latest chemicals when your neighbor the entire time threw weed spores into your garden and grass every minute of every day? In a perfect world I think is what you meant about being able to control the climate. I have lived at the same beach for over 40 years and its quite the same as it ever was. Mr. Gore predicted by 2010 that the eastern seaboard would be "inundated". Science or science fiction? When people start reacting, you hope that they react methodically, not emotionally.
  20. Wow! I figured it would be saying something like "Ding, your door is open and has departed the area". Its fun now to talk about, maybe?
  21. Its located in front of the spare tire well. I've got a couple of them in storage. I had a Vic 20 and Commodore 64, I can still smell them. I dont remember the voice thing though. It sounds like The Office episode where Michael has the talking computer in his office.
  22. Asia, South Asia, Africa, Norther Russia are ecological disasters, and have been for decades. US, Europe are the cleanest on the planet, and have improved drastically, case in point, LA Basin. Climate change has now become a religious crusade, and some parts of the US Government have taken on the same mantra. The tax burden proposed on the US taxpayer has reached in some estimates 100 trillion. India alone is a lost cause when it comes to changing anything pertaining to pollution, green house gases, etc. My argument, how does one nation change everything we know about carbon emission change the abhorrent behavior of places like China, India, Africa, when the US is already the cleanest its ever been? You can drive your electric car mandated by the government and never burn another gallon of gas, but that does nothing globally. You will get your clean air at the school yard, but that about it. Places like Delhi are the rotten apple in the bunch, theres no fix over there. Cities in the middle of China with the giant manufacturing plants, theres no fix there either. The governments, Eco-social conditions wont (cant) allow the massive change mandated by the initiative. I believe just like the war on drugs, where billions and billions are spent to wage that war, will mirror the war on climate. Normal daily life hangs in the balance.
  23. I love it. It sounds like you will be good until 102.
  24. Small, I agree, but Europeanizing America is a grave concern. My example is just a drop in the bucket.
