Considering selling the Z...
That's what I'm hoping. It's quite original (any mods done are easily reversible), in great condition, and I got a huge amount of previous owner documents, spare parts, updated parts I've never installed, etc.

Considering selling the Z...
I went in wanting one in World Rally Blue (the only color not shared by the Scion FR-S) but came away really liking the darker Galaxy Blue Silica. There was a white one, but it’s a pearlescent white and I’m not a fan. If they offered a regular white I’d be more inclined. Yep, drove it the other night. It’s a neat car. And I really do feel it’s like a modern day Z car. Lightweight, decent power, excellent chassis, nothing extra to weigh it down or overcomplicate it. Always a possibility. Thanks Arne. That's how I feel. I've had my fun with it and it's time to move on. I may regret selling it sure, but I just as easily may regret not buying the BRZ.

Considering selling the Z...
Don't get me wrong, I still love her. I'm just not in love with her anymore. And there's a new car (that could be) in my life. I really enjoyed the Z when she was my daily driver. Honestly she's not the best DD, but overall it was a great few years. Now however, she sits in the garage too much. I rarely take her out. I enjoy it when I do, but I really need an exciting DD back in my life (I'm currently driving a 15yo Exploder) and selling the Z would do that for me. Next month will be 5 years of ownership, but I may not make it much past that. *For those wondering, the new car is the Subaru BRZ. Which is very much a modern day Z car.

Finally got an IMSA
HAHA, it's a dangerous condition that primarily affect members of a certain other forum... The only cure is a complete transplant!

Suspension Refresh - 1970
This has taken longer than I would've liked, but you know how these things go. Life gets in the way. Got everything apart, and bead blasted the knuckles and sway bar brackets. Sand blasted the control arms last night and pressed the bushings out today (15/16" socket fit perfectly!). I'll sand blast the sway bar tomorrow. And hopefully I'll be able to POR these before I leave for the weekend. Oh, and I'm a dumbass and ordered rear bushings instead of front bushings... :stupid:

Help please opinion's
The commas and periods are worse in my opinion, but it's clear that's not getting fixed anytime soon. At times it's like reading a teenager's stream-of-consciousness text messages. Pics or it didn't happen!

Help please opinion's
Sounds interesting... The pictures in the listing all appear to be vintage though. Honestly, HybridZ.org would likely be a better place to ask about this. This forum typically sticks to dealing with stock and lightly modified Zs. That's by no means a rule, just par for the course. Whereas HybridZ is all about turbo motor and V8 swaps. Like I said, the car sounds interesting, but when it's been modified that much there are a huge number of variables. Best to check it out in person, or have a forum member check it out for you. We'd be happy to give you a list of what to check for.

Does your S30 leak oil?
Mine weeps. I should just replace the gasket, but I'll get to it when I get to it...

correct oil pan
Just realized my 2/70 with engine number #4375 also has the braised pan. Cool!

Suspension Refresh - 1970
Thanks Stephen, your thread was actually my motivation for finally doing this. It got me to take a good look at the bushings and I'm really glad I did. I'll be sure to replace those bolts you mentioned. My transverse links appear to be good and straight, I haven't actually taken them off because I've got the T/C upgrade kit on there already, with the boot stretched around the front washer... Still working on getting the ball joints and a tie rod out of the steering knuckles. These things are SEIZED! I'm pissed I left my PBlaster and pickle fork at home.
-
Suspension Refresh - 1970
Got it all off of the car. The tie rod ends and ball joints are pretty well stuck in the steering knuckle. Not a whole lot of luck with a mallet or pickle forks. I did manage to get one tie rod end out of the knuckle, now everything else is soaking in degreaser. And the arms are soaking in the parts washer. If I can get everything apart tonight, I'll be blasting it tomorrow!

opinons please
I agree with Chuck, numbers matching likely matters only for Series 1 cars. I've got #1704 with matching original motor and tranny and I'm confident that helps its value. I don't think the same would be true if I had #36,000. I think you should keep the original motor if you remove it, but put your money into the best candidate. If that means putting the turbo block in the rusty-but-solid car, then so be it.

Suspension Refresh - 1970
In general, polyurethane is utilized to provide a more firm ride. Combined with other factors (springs, tire sidewall, etc) they become a component of a harsh ride. They also tend to squeak. Yes, these are generalities. I decided to go with the rubber (except the endlinks), and it's all purchased. Should be here tomorrow. I hope to do a more complete refresh of the entire vehicle at a later date and who knows, I may go all poly then. We'll see.

Suspension Refresh - 1970
All good points. I used a wire brush, but had misplaced my PBlaster so decided to try disassembly anyway. It went pretty smoothly. And as far as the cotter pin, that's exactly what I did. It really wasn't too difficult to get out, I was just very surprised that it broke my pliers! Luckily they're lifetime warranty. I'll be bead blasting many of the components after I pull them, then getting the old bushings out, seal, paint, re-install. Now that I see my tie rod boots are toast, I'd like to replace them. But it appears one of them is NLA. I'll do some more searching, but what is my best option?
-
Suspension Refresh - 1970
So I started pulling it all apart last night. Nothing was too stuck or corroded luckily. My tie rod boots are TOAST, check it out: That cotter pin was a little PITA too, snapped the tips off of my needle nose pliers. Got most of it apart in about half an hour last night, and will finish up tonight. Then I'll bring the smaller pieces to work to sandblast, pop out the old bushings, seal and POR them. Then replace and install. I've been following the great walkthroughs at Atlantic Z Car Club

Needing new tires
As am I! Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Positions are great tires so far. I have them on both my 240Z (14") and V70R (17").

Newest addition to the garage.
Well it's come to a good home! Very clean, loking forward to seeing what you do with it. And I just picked up a V70R myself about a month ago, I love quick bricks!

Suspension Refresh - 1970
Does MSA sell just the insert and bushing? If poly won't really increase harshness in that location, then I'll go with it. RockAuto has some pretty inexpensive poly end links. And do you know the correct size ball joint?
-
Suspension Refresh - 1970
Thanks Arne, MSA still only lists the later ones, but RockAuto lists 11mm and 14mm. Am I correct in assuming 11mm is what I'm looking for? The Moog 14mm say "from 10/69 on"...

Oh boy, what did I do now......?
I'll have to take measurements when I put it back on the ground (front is on jack stands now). I thought my suspension was stock until I saw this thread, and I have no clue really how these compare to stock as far as ride quality. That being said, I've generally been happy with ride quality given that I think I'm on all original bushings.

Suspension Refresh - 1970
So I just pulled the Z out of her Winter storage spot in the garage and fired her up. With my dad's help, we got her running better than she ever has. From when I purchased her in October of 2007, until October of 2010 she was my DD @ college. She did right by me through those years and now that she's no longer on DD duty, it's time a do right by her. First thing up is a suspension refresh. There's roughly 75k miles on her over these 42 years and I'm pretty sure all of these bushings are original. I'll be doing this piecemeal because the wife is still in school and my funds are limited. But this rubber needs to be replaced. And it's getting replaced with rubber, as I prefer it over the harshness of poly. Endlinks look REAL rough. As do the T/C bushings. These will be replaced with a ball in socket kit. And the whole front assemblies will get cleaned up (maybe pc'd or POR'd) as well. You can see there's a lot of grime on there. And I assume I'll be doing a ball joint and steering knuckle swap because this is an early car. I'll have to start after the Datsun Driving Canby Fun meet on June 9th!

Oh boy, what did I do now......?
What color were the stock springs? I've got stock dampers, so I assumed my springs were stock as well. So without taking these out, can you tell me if they're aftermarket?

Pontiac Solstice
Pure, unadulterated JUNK. Yes, they are beautiful. On the outside. But inside it's all the worst GM parts bin crap. Nothing very sporty about them either, although you could get a turbocharged GXP version. It was a modern day Fiero (yes, I know it's not mid-engine): High on concept, low on execution. But did I mention they're beautiful?

Making 180 degree bend in vent line
When I dropped the tank a few years back and replaced those lines I ended up bending the hose into a nice 90 degree bend, and than wrapping it (with tape basically) to stay in place. Plan on dropping the tank again soon (maybe this weekend) so I mad this up before I left work. It's 1/2" OD .035 wall aluminum tubing I had left over from a recent project.
