I saw these on eBay today: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-280Z-Dynalite-15x7-mesh-wheels-rims_W0QQitemZ260166234214QQihZ016QQcategoryZ140732QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  2. Dogma- The chrome product discussed here is what you were referring to. You spray it on, dry it, and then bake it at 500-700 F for ordinary things. You are supposed to bake it longer or hotter for different things. like exhaust parts.

Dogma- I didn't twist my drip rails. The PO must have twisted the drip rails off for painting (and I'm surprised he did that much as it looks like a $99 paint job) and put them back on twisted. I've been trying to untwist the back ends since I got the car. Tast was a typo for 'The last.' thxZ

Who's using a car cover? Unless it fits perfectly with no way for the wind to get inside, then it'll blow off. Mine has a plastic gromet on each side, but the only thing you can do is to hook a rubber cord under the car to the two grommets, but it's not fun to lay on the ground when it's raining. I've tried pony clamps on the four corners of the bumpers. I thought it would be easiest to tie hooks/clasps directly on the side grommets and hook those under the rocker panel seams, but there's nothing under the car to hook onto. Has anybody thought of another way to secure a car cover? thxZ
  5. I got my 1 oz. bottle of stuff yesterday. The instructions say to spray it on for a 2 mil thickness, then dry it at about 150F, and then cure/fuse it at 500-700F for about an hour, then buff. So it doesn't look like using a heat gun on plastic would work, but I will try a little experiment with a plastic part and a small metal part to see what happens. thxZ

If you do get a chrome strip twisted, can you untwist it? Tast last 1/4 on both of mine are twsted. thxZ

On my 280Z, there are a few groups of wire for hazard switch, radio, defroster, antenna, etc. that go from the console to the firewall area. The only problem on my car is that the PO just stuffed things up there and it's a bloody mess, a rat's nest, and you can't even tuck the carpet under the heater. Are all those bundles of wires supposed to go through the heater area with some kind of organization? should the wires be neatly organized in smooth lines like the rest of the wiring that's been taped? I may need to spend a week or two untangling things. :devious: thxZ
  8. Will that thing really fit 240Z - 260Z - 280Z - 280ZX ? :hurt: I wouldn't be surprized if you saw fuel injection parts on eBay labeled "240Z - 260Z - 280Z"
  9. When I bought my stainless brake lines, I was told that they weren't approved, but they were in the process. That was maybe ten years ago too.
  10. oops- double post
  11. That's confusing. Can you explain? I didn't see anything on those hoses to tell you which ones they were. Could be either type. Also, I was told that the ones I had were in the process of getting approved, so they are probably OK to use by now.thxZ
  12. I was told that the braided stainless brake hoses were not approved for the street because they had not passed the "whip test."
  13. Before I took the new brake hoses to the brake shop. I examined them carefully. Each one had on it a short black plastic sleeve with "EARLS" printed on it in white ink. I think that most of these braided hoses were from Earl's, but were they ever approved for use in cars? I think that when I bough my hoses they weren't yet "approved" but people were using them anyway. thxZ

My oem mirror isn't a red dot.

My original inside mirror had the same problem. The sideview mirrors have a thing inside that you can screw down to tighten it up a little, but the inside mirror doesn't, AFAICT. thx

My brakes were a little spongy because one of the rear hoses was leaking just a little. I put on new hoses ( stainless braided ones) and now it's totally different. thxZ
  17. Sorry, I don't take pictures of my car. You couldn't see the new hoses anyway. Besides the new brake hoses, everything is stock. I just haven't had an opportunity to check the rear brakes. How ould you do that when it's not snowing or raining? thxZ
  18. I finally got the chance to install the stainless braided brake hoses on all four wheels of my car, and now I have brakes! The old rubber hoses were weak, so they were bulging a little, and there was just a bit of leaking. Braking was slow, and probably took double the distance at highway speeds. After the install, I tried the brakes in an open place, and I'm glad I had on my shoulder belt, because I almost hit my head on the steering wheel!. Hopefully, I'll never have to use the improved brakes on the road, but at least I know I can stop MUCH more quickly if I need to. I put on a new PCV valve too, and the engine & transmission ar much happier now too.

Are you refering to the ping that's associated with the engine?
  20. That's why we usually say to use the search function. A similar question has probably been discussed before somewhere. A copy of the Factory Service Manual (FSM) is great too.
  21. Use PB Blaster to infuse the threads on the 3 screws holding the back plate on, and an impact driver ( the kind you hammer) would probably help a lot too; tapping the screws with a screwdriver helps loosen the rust a bit. Don't forget antisieze when you reassemble. thxZ

That's why my playlists are at least an hour long, and it repeats when it's done. As for phonecalls, if it really can't wait until I get where I'm going, I'll pull off the road somewhere to make a callback. thxZ

Inf- Your car was obviously in the way when that girl was in such a hurry to get her car parked in or out! OTOH, it would be nice to have a dart gun with suction-cup darts to tag idiots, and after they get a bunch of darts, they get a big ticket. But then everybody would be shooting everybody else, with these idiot's st00pid idea of "good driving." Remember that the Allstate nsurance guy on TV says that there's a 1-in-8 ( 13%) chance that you'll have a collision at any given time? SCARY! thxZ

Maybe Mike's driving a bulldozer or the lawn tractor?

Well, there's a proper place for everything. Go to VIR or drive I-95 if you feel the need for speed. Go to the mall if you wanna talk on the cell phone. Just don't forget to go to Church on Sundays to tell the man upstairs you're glad he invented Mr. K. (among other things)
