  1. The reason there was no info on the cars in that document was because of the lack of information on the entry form. I don't think that anyone put more than, say, 'Tokiko springs,' or 'new carpet' on the car show entry form. The awards would've lasted hours more to have those slides up long enough to read. Also, since the the only picture of the car was taken besides the one by the main gate, they were not available until after the convention.

I wondeered about that too, but I haven't seen one or any kind of replacement bezel/nut either. The newer ones look like they're designed to go on a flat, horizontal surface, which is quite different from the stock location on an S30.

    That's corect.

Andrea Pininfarina passed away on August 7, 2008, in case you didn't know. He was famous for being the CEO of the Italian coachbuilder Pininfarina, founded by his grandfather Battista "Pinin" Farina in 1930. txZ

I'm in no rush to finish the car. I do things as they come around or as I am inspired. I'd rather rebuild the factor unit, but I can put this new one in temporarily. I know you can hook it up to function like it was designed to (go up with the radio on) but I like to keep most things period looking or functioning, so I wanted the antenna to go up only when I wanted it to. The only thing I can't fix is the exposed tip, which has a flush look to it. I usually keep it down any way.

As an alternative to the pricey oem-style power antenna, I figured out a switch wiring setup to operate a newer automatic antenna (it goes when the radio is turned on, and down then the radio is turned off) to work using the wiring available in a 280Z. Below is the switch diagram I figure to use, which requires a DPDT, center-off momentary toggle switch and two of the three wires. The red wire is the main power wire to the antenna, and the blue wire goes to the radio's power antenna connection. Ground on the antenna goes to the chassis of course. I will figure out a relay setup using two wires and the factory antenna switch ( SPDT center-off momentary.) thxZ
  7. This might be another of those peculiarities I've found on my car since I got it. Some look like factory things and some are from a PO. thxZ
  8. Sorry, you must have inaccurate or incomplete information. My engine, the wiring, and all the relevant literature I have all confirm a set of contacts in the air flow meter. Otherwise, I would not have said so.
  9. I was browsing the DVD from the convention, and I counted over 2,500 pics on it! The photographer is a Z enthusiast, so he made very well sure only the best photos were taken! You all should get the DVD because it won't be soon for another convention to be held in Cleveland...
  10. I just got my copy of the DVD, there are over 2500 photos from the convention on it. :cheeky:
  11. The fuel is turn on when the key is on Start. After that, the fuel pump stays on because of a set of contacts onide the Air Flow Meter.

Correct. The turn signals have always worked correctly while there was an intermittent problem with the hazard flashers.

I have an intermittent problem with the hazzard lights. Sometimes when I remove the center console, they stop working for a while. Sometimes the switch itself is the problem (you need to jiggle the rocker just right), and sometimes the connector by the firewall is the problem (pins not connecting properly.) Check the big green connector by the firewall to ensure that the pins inside are connecting or touching properly. thxZ

    A/C condenser mounts maybe?
  15. The only thing left needing attention or revamp is the judges! Really... What it means is that some judges know just about everything about every detail about every model & year of car, and others are less experienced or knowledgable. You get that at any kind of car show, especially if there is a volunteer judge that was 'pulled off the street at the last minute.' BTDT (at musclecar "classic car" shows where an S30 is just some kind of foreign car ) AFAIK, One goal of the ZCCA software/website updates is to have a more centralized data system, so it will be easier to register for conventions, do the car show judging, and other stuff. That way, in stead of having one specialized computer for registration, one for the car show, etc., all you need is a few ordinary computers with WiFi, or a wireless phone/Internet card, or whatever to connect to the Internet. thxZ
  16. If you are referring to the car show judging sheets, those will be s-mailed to you- 'soon.' The results for the car show, and autocross are going to be posted on the clevelandrockZ.com website- 'soon.' :classic: Due to the large amount of sponsor donations, Z-store inventory, goodie bag stuffings, and other convention-related stuff that helped make the convention a success, there is still a lot of cleanup & organization to do, so please be patient. I think I can tell you that are are still some engine & body parts (300ZX performance intakes, S30 floorpans, etc) in the inventory and will go up for sale. Everybody on the convention email list will get a notice about that. thxZ
  17. You might want to collect vector graphics (eps files) in stead of, or along with rastor graphics (bitmap, jpg) because they are clearer at any scale. then you could even use the vector graphics to engrave things.

You must have an aftermarket light switch installation. My car (11/78) doesn't have it, or even an indent or hole where your switch is located. there are no connections or wiring to the ome lamp either. That is unless you can explain it. thxZ
  19. there are about 1000 photos from the Mid Ohio event on the photos website so go there, and browse till your eyes fall out. Don't forget to order your favorite photos! thxZ
  20. You may want to take a look at the clevelandrockz.com website soon. There will be a section where the surplus items from the convention will be listed for sale. Things like duffle bags, T-shirts, banners, hand-made engine dress-up parts and maybe even the 300ZX engine parts like intakes & turbos. thxZ

Mine is 11/77. Can you post a picture please? I will go look into this later. thxZ
  22. Soon, you will be able to browse through the surplus stuff from ZCON on the clevelandrockZ.com website. There will be duffle bags, T-shirts, banners, book, etc. thxZ
  23. You should also checkout HybridZ.com where they do crazy stuff like that. I onbce read about fitting some Buick trans direct to an L28. thxZ
  24. It costs me $0 on traffic tickets, school and everything else because I don't speed! It's WAY cooler to cruise through town. Why would anyone need to go 55 MPH in a 35 zone? Like you can't tell you're going almost twice as fast as everybody else?

My 280Z doesn't have a dome light switch on the hatch either. Maybe you are thinking ZX?
