It was a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California look-alike. Notice there weren't any Enzo badges. It keeps the lawyers away.

Hybridz Help
The whole Hybridz site has been getting upgrades in the last week. I can get on, but certain functions were not implemented, and I bet their working on getting the forums archived a/dor reloaded, which isn't easy. there might be some (problems) getting the forums, downloads, etc., and all totally working. It should take a week or so and back to "normal."

Carpet Kits... MSA or Vic Brit?
I would probably prefer to get a professional interior installer to do the interior. Carpeting and coverings aren't the same thing as a mechanical repair.- it's more of an art. Same with paint & bodywork. I could mmore easily overhaul the engine than install carpets, door skins & paint. Even though carpets 'look' easy, I know there are lots of tricks that I don't know of.

No. And that's the correct answer.

Carpet Kits... MSA or Vic Brit?
Would there be any advantage to buying a carpet kit from a mail order place, and then having a pro shop install it?

Hose clamps
While on the subject of hose clamps.... What do you guys think of those faux braided hose covers with the red hexagonal hose clamp covers? I have a set for a V-8, and it should do for the L28. Along with some(LOTS) of polishing, it might make that tired ol' thumper look nice, to go with my MUSTANG POWER STEERING!! Any thoughts? thx.

Fog Lamp Switch
Thank you kats, Unfortunately, the later Z-cars (like my 280Z) don't have the round inset in the dash where the switch goes. I suppose one could create one, but I tyhink it might be a good idea to put the fog lamp switch in the console under the radio.

Jap spec bonnet mount zed mirrors
You know the talbots are the quintissential European-style racing mirror... I wouldn't know if they are similar to t he Jap-spec mirrors in question.

Jap spec bonnet mount zed mirrors
Why so important? Is there a big difference between that and something like a Talbot mirror? Or just what you want for some reason?

Sandblasting: Pros? Cons?
It's been said that sand will get in the holes & crevices and trap water, so you end up making more rust right away. Even if you blow it out, there's still more sand in there. the Baking Soda (granular, not the stuff you bake with) is effective and you can blow it ALL out easier (maybe even wash it out) and there's nothing left to absorb water. It's also better because it's not corrosive if you leave any.

Sandblasting: Pros? Cons?
26th is right- When you say "sand blasting," are you talking about using sand as the media? Like he said, there's also plastic, walnut, glass even baking soda! Baking soda is supposed to do the same job as sand, but is much easier to clean out than sand. Probably some other kinds of media too. Try to be more specific.

Honda Strut Bar/Brace for Z
I was assuming that a car like Hondu Accord weighs aboutthe same as my Ford Escort- about 2200 lbs). On the other hgand, my 280Z weighs about 2700 lbs. , and it "feels" like it's a that heavy from the steering wheel.
-
Honda Strut Bar/Brace for Z
I think that the weight difference between a hondu (about 2,000 lbs) and a Z-car ( about 3,000 lbs) would make a difference in how the Hondu strut bar works on either car. The Hondu bodies might even be a little stiffer than a Z ( no offense) because it has a modern design and materials, which I would assume to be lighter and stronger.
-
Honda Strut Bar/Brace for Z
Things in your vehicle will stay "square" with a strut bar installed ONLY if the vehicle is "square" to begin with. You can't "square" things using the strut bar- they aren't meant to correct the vehicle's geometry. You'd need an alignment machine, or to replace bad struts or whatever was bent to fix things.
-
Honda Strut Bar/Brace for Z
I'm surprised somebody else didn't mention this already- BEFORE you even start measuring your car for a brace or bar, you need to make SURE your chassis is in albsolutely PERFECT ALIGHMENT! Otherwise, you'll be locking it into whatever ****-eyed geometery it's in. That's what the strut bar's job is, but NOT what you want to do with it. You want to lock the (properly aligned) chassis so it doesn't change/move when you turn. BTW- .02 cents is $0.0002!

Glovebox Replacement
What car is that? My 280 has a plastic one. Still in good condition after 25 years.

Detailing Checklist
I've been using the foamy tire cleaner under the hood & in grimy areas. On the sheet metal and rubber stuff and wiring. It seems to lift off the dirt and if you spray a second time, it leaves a nice coating that's not too slick or shiny and protects. You don't even need to take it off, unless you want to get more dirt off. Not for plastic!

Help, I need a lawyer
People in general are: 1. lazy 2. dishonest 3. clumsy In that order. We learn this in Computer Repair and psychology classes, in College. You would be surprised at some of the crazy things they will do. We call it POLITICS in the U.S.

Help, I need a lawyer
With UPS, they will return the parcel if it can't be delivered- at the sender's expense. I wonder why Airborne "destroyed" it? Maybe was just damaged and they (somebody) don't want to admit it.

'74 260Z Horn won't shut off
It looks like a proper replacement of the affected part(s) is in order, unless you want to be surprised again down ther road somewhere. I'm a little surprised that you didn't mention some idiot that lost his cool because he didn't care for the horn blaring. You know- road rage (both 4-letter words)! Good luck.

Detailing Checklist
I was also hoping for people to point out those 'special places' that they go after. the ones you usually don't think off. Like certain places on the body(door jambs, trunck & hood frame, etc). It's easy to just vacuum the carpets & seats, then wip down the windows & dash. That's about all I do now. May there are some (important) things I forget? Do you have a general plan of attack?

Detailing Checklist
I've seen carcare.com, and it was good reading. Silicone, isn't all that bad, and has some superior performance, on some things. If you are careful and know where it can be used safely. Every product has good & bad points, and you need to weigh them and use properly.

Detailing Checklist
I'm working on increasing my knowledge of cleaning a car this week! Oh boy! I'm collecting info on what to go after when you clean the interior of the car. I'd like to assemble a checklist of the things that people do. I know "everything" should just about cover it, but there's more to cleaning "everything." Everything has little bits to it and there are probably things or techniques that you or I (or whomever) never thought of doing. If you know of a GOOD & comprehensive website, post the URL & a short description. My Z-car database is up to 2 Megs! (not including pictures.) Eventually, I post itt to my website. thx.
