  1. I haven't seen a Zed in Cleveland, OH since the 80's. Not until I went to visit a Z club last summer.

I really didn't think one would need a rev limiter on a 280Z. Since it's the thing I know most about right now, I thought I'd look into it as a way to learning more abnout how the engine & electrical stuff works. So if you would humor me, I would like to discuss how this job would be accomplished without totally rewiring everything- like just adding on a thingy if there is one. With the engine having 100k+ miles on it or 25 yrs old, I think I would want to lower the red line substantially- like to 5k? Mine sounds smooth, but you never know if it wants to throw itself through the hood! thx

Don't they have faux braided coverings for the hoses like the faux stainless braid?

Funny!... Actually, they were looking for a place to get some brew. It was a long way to go for a Beer run!

What was the REAL REASON the 'pilgrims landed on this side of the Atlantic? (you'll like thios one)

What kind of intake? there are many different kinds.

George Washington (who was NOT the first President of the United States) was actually a Britsh person/citizen.

I thought a rev-limiter might connect to the ign. coil, llike a tacho wire, and sens the RPM. Then it would cut off power or something to limit the revs. thx

He replaced the whole ignition system with an MSD one, which has the rev-limiter. I thought there might be one you add onto the stock system.

That 240z restoration "checklist" seems fairly comprehensive. On the other hand, it is just a checklist, specifying OK/repair/replace for most things which is subjective, and it even refers to restoring a couple things according to the book, "Restoring Your Datsun Z Car" by Wick humble! It's still a checklist and leaves a lot open, so between that and the one from hammondsplains.com, I think you can do a fair job of "restoration." I only plan on using it as a checklist of things to do to make the cart better & safer to drive.

Is there supposed to be a rev-limiter on the F.I. L28 engine? If not, can you put one on there? Which one? thx
  15. Yeah- You can probably add Bambikiller, hls30, 280zxEd, kats, guus...

Hello! Sorry, but that weight is wrong. Try 2800-3000 lbs with your setup. Also, did you know that B&M once had an auto shifter with an 'H" shape gate? Just like the 4-speeds. Go call them to start making more. I need one too. Shift kit? Is that a manual shift body, or just shift improver? How do you like shifting constantly? thx

The fumes don't go into the crackcase. That would be dangerous. Instead the fumes, and any overflow from expansion, are collected and hopefully condensed in the evap. tank and returned to the fuel tank. I dunno why one would want to remove the evap. tank either, except to simplify things. The filler neck should be able to hold some overflow, if the tank is not too full, and recirculate some condensed fumes. I think I would rather eliminate the carbon cannister. cheers! ciao! gesundheit!

It's the same reason people will pay you $10 million a YEAR to play baseball or basketball, or the reason people will pay $25 to go see those millionaires! What a waste. That's why I watch sports on TV. FREE. $25 pays for cable for a whole month, or a bunch of pizzas & sodasfor the game, or enough gas for my Z for a day. ciao

Mine has the rivets. I think I will drill them out, then cover the holes with a stripe of a similar color. 3/8 wide? Those black ding strips are too 70's ugly! Too much for me, at least.
  20. Those apps are kinda cool. I use a similar method to make timing stickers for the model boat engines, using millimeters for ease of calculations. The only problem is I have yet to find the timing gauge on my L28!
  21. I have a new spring to fit into the driver's door (old one popped out or broke). Would it be difficult to install a spring without removing the hinge? thx.
  22. You might even try patching in a 12V battery direct to the gauges or the dash harness, bypassing all the connectors, to see if the connectors are the problem.

I wish my 280Z had one of those to fix my mixture problem. Soot is practically dripping out of the tailpipe.

Yeah, that's the thing I got. It has a black plastic sleeve going inside, with what 'feels like' a cable inside it. The wiring diagram shows something labelled "Amp."
  25. Why? Are you just replacing it, or something else?
