Do your injector connectors have the rubber boot & quick-release button on them?

What's your ride height?
So since my springs are oem, I could correct the ride height of the car with a new set of springs? I'd like to lower the car just a little as well as level it off.

According to the article, each connector was $12, and you need about 8 or so. Maybe soldering for you is easy, but I would expect to spend an hour easy on each connector, and some time to inspect & redo anything else on the injector harness. and that's if the copper wire strands inside are good enough to solder to. That's why I'd go for a newer or assembled harness. With all that extra wire I have coiled up for each injector connector, I would consider cutting the wire to length first and crimping on new terminals like in the article

Just spending some free time looking for a way to not spend $100+ on connectors, and several weeks soldering & crimping.

Injector wires
That's what my research is indicating. I'm going with a 328i model from around 82-90. Also considering other BMWs from 3 series to 5 series with 6-cyl engines.. Maybe those will be compatible, and 'new-looking.' IMO, modern injectors are all weird. Maybe they hve each their own Fuel-molecule-alignment magnets or ECUs inside... thx

I looked up the specs on BMWs, and they are still using inline 6-cylinder engines (L6 engines) with f.i. That might be a source of a complete injector harness (just really expensive.) I'm not sure if the connectors are compatible. From the pictures I saw on eBay, it doesn't look so. Need to keep looking. Isthere a name for the connector style we need?

What's your ride height?
Rocker jack points on My car: front: 8.75" rear : 8.5" (both sides are the same) Wheel arch heights: frt: 15.25" Rr: 15.75 (both sides are the same) I have no idea what springs are on it- probably oem. I don't really care to measure the wheel arch heights because finding the center of the wheel hub isn't exact, unless it's marked on there. You could be up to 1/4 inch off.

Teaching the young ones to restore!
When I was younger, and my older brother was into cars, we fixed them up in the garage during the winter. When I got to 15, he told me "when you need a car for yourself, we'll go to the junkyard and build one!"

Don't show him your wheel wrench until he's 16!

Injector wires
Stephen- Did they actually just let you look around a JY and snip injector connectors?? Which ones did you notice would work best for our purpose? Did you notice any (or all?) with the rubber boots and/or the thumb release button? From the eBay descriptions of the connectors, it appears that many of the injectors used during the 80s had the connectors we we would need. It would help to know what to look for, or perhaps yuou could just yank a whole injector harness from, say, a V6 or V8 engine, possibly avoiding swapping all those ends and just adding a new ECU connector, which would be less visible. thx

What's your ride height?
OK, Gary was right. I looked it up on the Automotive Glossary (http://www.autoglossary.com/) and it says the ride height is The distance between the road and the bottom of a vehicle. Just not what part of the bottom to measure from, like the rocker jack points. You all have agreed to measure something else, but all still the same points.

The AtlanticZ article makes a significant effort to note the polarity of the pins on the injectors and that you connect them so. I know that coils prefer to have a certain polarity (like speakers), but they still work either way. It would be a more dificult (tedious) thing to check and see that the wiring was of correct polarity in the first place!

Sorry, Gary, Matt was right. the stance of my car is a little high in the front. Plenty of clearance under the floor tho.

Any recommendations for battery cables
Then which are the OEM clamps, the lead ones?
-
Injector wires
What about this injector connector from eBay? too cheap? Do you still need to have the polarity correct, as in the AtlanticZ writeup?

Any recommendations for battery cables
I dunno about getting those... If I went to a Z show with those cables, I'd get points off for not having what everybody else has! LOLVery pretty cables, and only $35

What's your ride height?
On my car, the front bumper is noticeably higher. Should the car look about level or the front lower? thx

Whats in you "Emergency Toolkit"?
I already have a couple very basic 'automotive first aid kits' (freebies) packed in neat tubular bags, but I'll bet the stuff inside (ointments, sterilizers & such) is dried out or expired, so check the expiration date, unless you just want is to carry the bandages, of which the envelopes are totally dry & stuck together too. BTW, those 'moist towellettes' aren't sterilizers. And they aren't condoms, even if some lady mistakes them to be (happened to me once:surprised )

Anybody up for a new Z shirt? PART TWO!
Those Mini Cooper caricatures look like 350Zs! Good thing those aren't shown in public where lots of people look at them. Only you get to see it.

Alternative Wheel Center Caps
correct. 20,000 grit is just a cloth with a rubbery feel, like a fingernail polishing stick. But it's impressive to show the stuff to people! I used 800 on the valve covers, with some extra-fine steel wool & polish creme.

Alternative Wheel Center Caps
I have a whole set of sanding papers used to take scratches out of plastic airplane windshields and cheap sunglasses. It goes up to 20,000 grit. I keep a wheel of 36 grit on one sander

You're funny Will. That's why I'm going to kill you last... (j/k- I saw "Commando" last night.) I thought 100-grit would make the grooves deeper... After furcan (hurricane) Ernesto leaves, I'll try it.
