  1. My car is at 113k miles, and when I had it at the dealer for a tuneup ( plugs & timing only), the guy suggested a valve job. I had one done a couple years ago, after I got the car. How often do you think a vintage engine need a valve job? The owner's manual tells you a certain interval, but that's for a newer engine. an An older one with miles on it probably needs a little different treatment. There's a very slight ticking from the rocker box with the engine idling. thx
  2. I would just like to have some headlamps that you can change without taking the whole bloody fender off.
  3. I only know at low speeds, when approaching the mobile radar-speed sign, that my speedo is correct- at least up to 50 MPH on a certain 2-lane blacktop road nearby.
  4. NOnsense! A 4 speed has LONGER gears!
  5. Zak would have her adjust his shifter? Or maybe re-assemble it after it blows up...
  6. Mine are 215/70/14s. Just slightly larger than stock spec.
  7. My 78 is about the same as Montezuma's. My tires are a little larger too.
  8. I'd like a switch that when turned on, engages a rust & corrosion- reversing gizmo so the rust bubbles shrink, the engine& electricals get brighter & better working, and shinier chrome.
  9. It makes you wonder why so many Ipods are sold, Will. People prefer the convenience and will accept the lesser sound quality to the better. All for the status of owning a toy like the Ipod. And so, I will continue to carry my harp. It has capacity to play an infinite number of songs, has perfectly accurate sound quality, and doesn't need to be loadeded with anything but air... and a little spit maybe.
  10. I've used Nero before, and it does a good job of editing, converting & burning MP3s to an audio CD, but I didn't see anything there about an MP3 data disk. Also, per the instructions, AFAIK, it only wants you to use a numerical prefix for the folders on your disk, so I have to conclude that you are supposed to put each playlist & songfiles in different folders on the disk. BTW- when I refer to MP3s, I mean the MP3 FILES, not converting them to CD-DA format that regular CD players use. I'm going to try this MP3 disk thing to see what it's like compared to a digital MP3 player. I contacted JVC tech. through email to see what they have to say. thx
  11. Has anybody succesfully made an MP3/WMA CD for their car CD player? My receiver's instruction book tells you some things likethe 'folders' need to start with a prefix of suqeuential numbers like 01, 02, etc., But it doesn't mention about playlists or songs go. From what I read, you just create the folders on a design, then put the playlist and all the related songs in the same folder. No help from Google. I still prefer using my MP3 player, but an MP3 disk would be good to have because you might be able to give it to a DJ or friend to play on a stand-alone or home player. Most people don't have a mini-jack or card reader on their DJ equipment (yet?) thx.

I thought the owner's manual was small enough to fit into the glove box. Was there another bigger size?

Which Speedo gear was used for te OD auto trans? just the usual one for the diff? thx
  14. You could probably make up one from some bar or rod stock. Or maybe you could bodge one from another car to fit.
  15. Better yet, just turn the corner with the engine revving, and let the idiot give his autograph to some policeman. "you were never there."
  16. How come I've never seen a 280Z with a lower grille- or a 240Z or a 260Z either. Are they rare, or get tossed in the recycle box? thx

In houseld electronics: 1. Is it connected? 2. insert new batteries. 3. Read the owner's manual! For Zs: 1: is it connected? 2: check the fuses! 3. Look in the FSM or microfiche. 4. Ask on CZCC.
  18. I'm waiting for some ricer to try to get me to race. Since I don't "race," I'd just let the person (could be a girl, you know!) rev or whatever until the engine chokes. Then they can race to the next (red) light as fast as they want- could be a cruiser waiting down the street. I'll be busy cruising & looking cool. Racing is for the track, or the parking lot (as in autocross.)

do the needles on the center gauges wiggle when you turn the power on? Check your fuses. What does work
  20. Could you coat the bumpers with a rubber-type material?

    Self-portrait?
  22. That first one was nice. I mean different-nice. The angle sets it off from most of the usual front quarter photo taken at eye-level. Try some more! Go for something that will shock people or make them ill maybe! Get up close with a wide-angle shot. Lay down on the ground or sit on a 12-foot step ladder (I used to do airplanes for money in high school.) See if you can capture the feeling of movement when nothing is moving (blurr the image). You can go boring or go for something that hits you a different way. That's what makes people remember the picture or the subject. thx
  23. I have one of the last Alpha One GTO body kits....
  24. I think it's strange that after the guy (steals) the camera, edits the film to admit he took it but leaves all the embarassaing sruff, and then publishes it to the Internet. Not to mention it's proof he was threatening to shoot somebody for basically no reason. I see lots of people making turns without using the turn signal, and usually people don't go chasing after them for miles- Rednecks or not. Eventually, their stupid bad habitscatch up to them and they will do it in front of a police cruiser or cause an accident, and that will be enough punishment for them.

So what's the confusion? The hazard switch has a light on it so you can find it in the dark. The defog switch doesn't has a light in the switch, but it does have a light to tell you the defogger is on. that is what everybody is saying and agreeing about. And when you turn off the IGN switch, all the lights stay on if they are already on. The size of the bulb in the hazard switch has no part in this topic. That was not the issue. The issue was that the defog switch has a cavity where a light goes, and a translucent window, but the window is blocked. That explains why there's no bulb in the switch. I might consider adding a bulb in the defog switch later, but things are fine for now. thx Will & Stephen. BTW, my hazard switch is working perfectly too.
