I think you'll need to take the faceplate off your control levers to see what's up with that. Hopefully it's not the vacuum controls.

You're right, Will, but the newer mirrors don't have the locking screw. They also have a plastic receptacle, so maybe a metal insert for the lock screw will be needed.
  3. If I was able to get a new cable, how do you get the end out of the bottom of the mast? It seems to be pinned in? thx

I'd have to drill & tap a hole for the mounting screw. I figured for the auto the dimming, it only need 1 extra wire for the outside lights.

I will be picking up a rearview mirror (center) from a late model Monte Carlo soon, and I just would like to know what kind of electrical requirements it requires. I know it has two map/reading lights on the bottom, and I think it might be auto-dimming, and maybe even have a compas in it. When I looked, there were 3 or 4 light gauge wires coming from it, and those wires are the question. They could be from the door sensors, or running lights, etc. I'm not sure I would keep it in my Z permanently, but I'd like to at least check it out and maybe have it available for touring, then remove for shows. thx
  6. Before you unscrew the socket, wrap a piece if tape on the threads snug to the socket to mark the length.
  7. OK, I'll go look, but all the summer stuff is off the shelves since September. I only need a couple meters at most too. Maybe a mower shop has some. thx mate

While you're at it, do you have a small bag of regular lug nuts in there? Mine did- for the space saver tyre, in case you have ali wheels.
  9. It's a good idea, but where do you find trimmer line that's that heavy?
  10. Can you get a replacement for the plastic pushrod/cable that's in the 280Z power antenna? Mine broke right at the reel. I could possibly splice it with some brass tubing & GOOP. I'm still cleaning the insides, and if the motor works, I'll want to put a new cable into it, and an Up/Down switch at the radio. Also, how can you get the mast out of the housing, if I need to? There were two screws going through the housing & mast, and after removing those, it seems the mast is stuck or rusted in. I can get some photos. thx
  11. OK, what ever. Let's get back on with the partying...

Funny! I have plenty of room under the rear deck (or what's left of it) and the spare wheel well. In fact, I was thinking of cutting some rigid foam, or squishy foam, to fit in the spare wheel well to hold the jack tools, the chocks, and maybe some other stuff. Other tools, and sparefluids in the tool bins.

(Long Pause)...Oh. I get it now... I just cut up a piece of 4x4 lumber to make some chocks, and drilled a hole through it so I could tie in a loop of rope for extraction ( or carrying, use as bolos, etc.) :rambo:
  14. I had to conclude the 2+2 doors were longer because I bought some replacement window squeegees last summer, and they were too long for my 2-seater doors because they were for the 2+2 doors.

Thanks Will, I think there's supposed to be a slooted tube-thing on the end to keep the ball riding on the plate, and either a ball, or a rounded piece of rod in the end, held in place with a spring. the pic would be very welcome. thx a 10^6!

On my 280Z- when you move the function lever for the heater, is it supposed to 'click' into the different stops for the different modes? ( vent, heat, biLevel, recirc) I think my controls are missing some kind of spring-loaded thing. It would help to have a pick of the thing to maybe make the part- no help from the microfiche or FSM on this. thx

My car didn't have any chocks, so I made some.
  18. I might be that we're talking about different courtesy light cutouts. The 2+2 door panels should be too long to fit the door.

    What's a 'Tire Stopper?' thx
  20. My door panels have the cutouts for that light. Where dd they run the wires? Maybe I have the connectors in there too, but hidden.

not a bad price. Why didn't I try eBad in the first place? You can find maybe just about any darn thing there. I tried Googling for ANSA tips, but you get too muck junk that way. thx, mate

Higuys, just back from Tampa, FL I survived Guavaween! Where can I get a 2 1/4 inch Y or splitter so I can run dual gasspacks in the rear in place of the coffee can muff? I'd put a straight tip on each. Long Dual tips are impossible to find. thx

how about a Z-related picture for you...
  24. As a rule of thumb, the audio (experts) will tell you to get an amp that has more power than the speakers you will be driving. The reason is because when you turn up the power all the way (to make it loud) the sound gets distorted, from clipping or whatever, and it sounds bad. With the extra amps, you will only have to use partial power, and the sound will be much nicer, the quiet parts will not have any hissing, etc.
