That's about it. It could be compiled to an article for the tech section.
  2. I have some body-color paint that was made from scanning a part. If I mix up a little with the reducer (and no hardener) for some small spots, can you store that in a sealer container, or will it harden after a few days or weeks? rhxZ

E- What happened to that write-up you did on the drain tubes?
  4. Thanks Will- I used the shifter knob from a recent model Dodge Intrepid ( or Stratus, etc.) because the button is on the front instead of the top. The shifter knob from something like a Range Rover Freelander, which is a little smaller ( about tthe size of the wood manual shifter knob), but I can't get one from a JY, and the Whole assy is over $200 from the dealer, and they won't tell you what makes it work so I won't be getting one at $200 just to look inside.
  5. I was thinking of this swap on a 280Z. Should I expect the same kind of thing? thxZ

For a 'basic' sportscar like a Z, I like the more basic colours like what you have. There's no need for flames or scoops, wings, etc. Looks just fine as-is. just give it a decent paint job in a solid colour, gas it up and go somewhere. A "seatcover" for the other seat is nice too!

Next time, do it in Ohio, where the curves are much longer so you can rally rev it up!

    Looks nice!!

I never had mine apart. I only stripped the outside & repainted. Isn't there supposed to be a tuning nut in the center? thxZ

Nope. No room for a base tube anywhere in the back. There is only a couple of niches for the two speaker boxes I built (to fit into those niches.) Anything you put into the back of the car has to sit on top of the spare tyre or on the deck behind the seats, which is why I use a luggage net instead of straps. IMO, making a car sound like a recording hall is not a good thing and can even be dangerous, so I don't put a lot of effort or expense in audio equipment. Having the four speakers is enough, and the speaker boxes I built give good bas sounds.

That was my concern. The alternative would be to use the (black) plastic cover, whichgwould makeit obvious that it's no longer a stock-resembling setup- even if it was painted to match the panel behind it? thxZ

    ThxZ for the chart

There's no room for any bass tube in my car, and the speaker boxes do a good job on low frequencies, and I have absolutely no wish to complicate the wiring in my car after spending several years correcting things, so I will just try some better 4-inch speekers in the factory locations. I will leave the subwoofers to the younger crowd. The only thing behind the seats is luggage and a gallon of water. thxZ

The 4 inch speakers stay in the car, so if I need to leave the rear boxes in the garage, like for a car show. I can still have some music, but not too loud. I usually connect the rear boxes for most driving. The only issue I would see with 4 inch speakers would be that the multi-way speakers might stick out too far for the cover panels to go on, unless you were able to put the plastic grilles on over the top. thxZ

Dave (Zs-ondabrain) -- With all the audio stuff you have, where do you put the people?? Can 4-inch speakers really handle enough sound by themselves? I had to put in some cheapie radio-junk 4 inchers in the factory spots for the previous radio, but they will "pop" with significant bass notes. Upgrade to some better 4-inchers? thxZ
  16. It is probably a little late to get them to reorganize things. Hotel reservation changes, mechanical stops, and getting the dealers to change their calendars will be a big problem at this stage.
  17. There is no stop in Ohio...

The good thing about ZCON 2009 right now is the new registration system. Everything will be done via the website. The car show is on Tuesday again???? (j/k)

I don't like buying things from eBay that are supposed to be from the U.S.A., but you find out come from Hong Kong or Taiwan ( from the shipping label.) I prefer to support local or domestic markets, even if it did cost a bit more, and would rather not send my money to some bloke overseas, whose selling 5,000 items a month! That's how our economy in the U.S. got so bad! thxZ
  20. The turn signal lever is on the left of the steering column, the windsheild wiper /lights control mates to it on the right side, and the hazard switch goes under the radio.
  21. 100 grit isn't all that coarse. I use 60-grit as a start on wood projects, then 220 and paint. On the Aluminum 100-grit should be fine, but will take a little effort on the next one or two grades up. Even a file can be used to take out scratches or dings.
  22. Instead of a clearcoat, tere are proper metal waxes (refer to Metalwax.com) to sustain & protect the finish. The only problem is that you can't get it at just any autoparts store, and if you ask a salesperson, they will show you car wax.
  23. Actually, the leaves have had their "fall colours" since they were born. They simply fill up with chlorophyll in the warmer months and turn green.
  24. In movies, people used to talk about "Cleveland" as some kind of lesser place. We have downtown with its inner-city area, Little China, Little Italy, etc., and even the areas you'd want to avoid at night if you want to get home 'alive.' All that is just like any other city in the U.S.A. and things are getting better downtown with all the improvements, closings of drug-houses, and recently the Rock Hall and Science museum. I think that having a successful convention is a nice feather in Cleveland, Ohio's cap... BTW- Did you know that 43 states have a city called "Cleveland?" thxZ
  25. Usually the winner is allowed to say his name and a short spiel, but with so many classes and winners for everything, it was decided to forego that for brevity. I'll agree that it would be a good idea to get close-up pictures possibly during the show, and even interviewhe owners for the particulars.
