Where do you keep your Owners Manual?
Funny. My FSM occupies a good bit of space on the bookshelf.

Weird Myths or Facts about your Z car
I was at a car show the other day, and while resting inside the car I overheard a young dad telling his little boy some "facts" about my 280Z: "This guy took off the 4-barel carb and put on the fuel injection stuff, so now it's slower than other cars, but better mileage for city driving. It also has the heavier city bumpers put on it, instead of the lighter ones they originally came with." Or how about, "Why don't you bring your car over to my shop sometime, and we can re-chip your engine computer to get you 50 - 100 more HPs?" "These cars used to be called Corvette-killers because they were that fast." "Your car is illegal because it doesn't have the catalytic converter that ALL cars built after 1974 are required by law to have!" "I thought it had a V-8. Why did you swap your engine for something less powerful?" anything else? At least people read the entry sign in the window to see that it was a Datsun... thxZ

Where do you keep your Owners Manual?
I cfut out a card the same size as my owner's manual, and guess what? It doesn't fit in the glovebox! It actually sticks out some from the front edge. But... you can still close the door, if you don't mind a little bending of the booklet. I might put in a foam wedge to put it on the correct incline to fit the booklet without the bending. The other option would be to cut the booklet to fit. thxZ

Spook Lip Trim - What do You Think
What are the scoop holes for- where do they lead? I think you should've gone with the riveted garden-edging if you're worried about scrapes. thxZ

Fuel Pressure 26PSI
www.Rockauto.com is a good source for parts like the fuel pump. They will list all kinds of stuff for the Z.

Running on a near empty tank
You're probably sucking up all the rust & (junk) that's in your tank - not good for any engine. this comes from the old cars with steel gas tanks, ahich you kept at least 1/4 full so the foreign matter stayed in the tank and didn't get in the supply line. Fortunately, newer cars have plastic gas tanks (or at least mine does) so there's no chance for rust, but you can't always guarantee perfectly clean gas tank. I think that you may be sucking some air, which isn't good either.

Another 240Z exhaust goes NLA
I painted my muffler with black BBQ grille paint because it was bare steel, and kinda shiney.
-
Another 240Z exhaust goes NLA
oops, I'm used to looking at the other one. You couldn't just substitute one of the others?

Another 240Z exhaust goes NLA
I just got a new BD catalog, #Z.60, and the Monza exhaust was in there. thxZ

Grant steering wheel adaptor
Wuil tape stick to the inside? If not then try painting on a coat of plasti-dip or bedliner stuff. As to bending the contact arm, I seem to remember doing it but not as much as you had to. I also had to bend mine, and if you weren't careful when removing or replacing the column covers, you could accidentally touch it and move it closer to being in-contact with the hub, and later have the horn go off (BTDT.) On my 280Z, the part that the tab attaches to is squarish and the tab has a shoulder, so it shouldn't be able to move- at least when it was new. Make sure everything is clean & dry when assembling and only those certain parts requiring lubricant actually have it. Or a tiny bit of GOOP to keep it in place.

replacement console lid
The description for that item isn't very clear. Does that mean this item is the (hinged) lid? Mr. Blake thinks that it fits over the oe console lid. The extra padding would be nice to lean on, but I think it would be in the way when you open the lid.I will ask them if they can provide some more photos or information to clear it up. thxZ

Windshield header
I think it was TWEEKS, but I don't have any of those old catalogs. Tweeks had loads of Datsun logo'd stuff and add-ons for the car. Otherwise, my first thought would be to call or visit a place that made vinyl signs, and maybe show them a sketch, or ask around a rice shops.

Hood keeps popping open
It sounds like Matt should take the hood latch off the car and go over it with naval jelly and a tiny wire brush. If the hood safety catch isn't working right, then who knows what else is stuck or stuck open to allow the hood to pop open like it is. I have also been replating all the zinc stuff with Eastwood's zinc plating system.

What do you take along....
I have an L.E.D. torch/flashlight with a hand crank generator on it, so you can charge your phone or pocket PC. It's handy on camping tips. I even have a fancy lantern with a white l.e.d. light, red l.e.d. strobe, AM/FM radio with weather, and a hand crank with phone charging jack. It's rather neat, though bulkier than the l.e.d. torch.

Where do you keep your Owners Manual?
I had one, but loaned it To the DVD project. For some reason, it would not fit flat in the glovebox; one side is shallow and the other is deep. I had to curl it up to fit it in the glovebox.

Where do you keep your Owners Manual?
If it would fit, you could keep it in the glovebox. So then where do you keep yours, if it's in the car? Maybe it could be reduced in size to fit the glovebox, if you printed it from the upcoming DVD archive? thxZ

Nice RC model
If there were a few of these cars in a club or owned by people at a car show (like Zcon '09?) what, if anything, would you do with them? From personal eperience, they seem to need a good bit of room to go (about 1/2 a tennis court.)
