  1. What do you mean "nothing" on the dogbone cups?
  2. Unscrew the gas peddle from the fire wall and clean the little shaft it pivots on too. The bellows probably aren't an issue. A little white lithium grease at all the connectors (dogbone cups, pivots) all the way to the carbs certainly wont hurt anything. My money's on binding worn shafts.
  3. Worn throttle shafts on Hitachis can exhibit that trait. Too much spring pressure can put the shafts in a bind. Or you might be missing a return spring or two. I have also seen foot peddle pivots inside the car so gummed up they wont move freely. What carbs are you running? If you tap the gas will the idle come down any?
  4. More pictures at www.datsunsnw.org. Click events then 2008
  5. .... not much more than parts changers. Anyway Matt, what's the asking price of that Z?
  6. If he knows what is needed to fix the problem, why doesn't he spend the money to fix the problem?

I'll share a little secret we use in the 510 side of the sport, but you have to promise not to tell anyone else...... Electrical gremlins often times can be laid to rest by stripping the fuse box of all fuses, removing it from the chassis and giving it a submersion bath in a bowl of vinegar for 10 minutes or so. Rinse, dry, install new fuses and see what you have. I have done this numerous times on many vehicles and it cleans oxidation and corrosion off copper contacts very well. While you have the bowl loaded with vinegar you might might run around the engine compartment dipping other single connectors you can see.... Like I said this'll just be our little secret.......:tapemouth

Needles and nozzles are each $30 a pair......
  9. Mike, By the time your kids are ready for yours, they'll be argueing about whether to take out a small business loan and put some gas in it or fill it with dirt and plant geraniums.......
  10. Just recieved word that we will be having a Dyno at Canby this years for those who'd like to KNOW your numbers. Go to www.datsunsnw.org for details. Cheers
  11. Check out part #ZT161 for $730 which takes into account the fact that you have no cores. The $980 item ZT162 has items in addition to what you really need. I'll let others chime in on what they see as the advantages of a set of carbs that allows the air fuel mixture to flow straight into the intake ports or a carb that makes the air fuel mixture take a hard ninety degree turn before it goes anywhere...... Sorry, I've wanted to say that for a long time, and thought today, while no one was looking, would be a good time. ROFLROFL
  12. Call Danny's Datsuns 541-430-1180. He's between Eugene and Roseburg. More than likely working in the shop today.....
  13. With regard to Arne completing the unload of the yellow car, I want to give you all the phone number for Danny's Datsuns in Sutherlin Oregon who is moving toward closing the doors by some time this summer. He is working down his inventory (read HIGH scrap prices) by pairing down some of the newer models first. The number is 541-430-1180. He works a job so the off hours might work best for contact. Here's hoping for a 500 that doesn't come off looking like a cluster!!

Ya have to ask yourself how much good that airdam does.....:stupid:
  15. There's a lot of good info on this thread kids. As an aside I thought I'd throw out the fact that we have a video that covers this. ZTV07 Street Racimg Suspension.
  16. There were 2 balance tube / hose configurations, an end tap and a top tape. If a problem exists finding only one hose, finding the orther balance tube would be the way out......

So were you to be burning real gas, that could easily be 24ish mpg.....
  18. My first inclination is to ask why you feel they need to be adjusted. I talk to more guys who have hopelessly messed their carbs up because of the burning desire to "adjust their floats". Give me a call tomorrow and I'll be happy to walk you through it. 503-587-9800
  19. Everything else aside, a compression test would tell you just how tired that engine is. If for example compression is down say 40% from new, then a rebuild should yield some major bang for your buck. Hanging go fast parts on a tired old motor is, how would one say it, counter productive. Start with the basics and build from there.

The early 4 screws ran an N27 needle. First iteration of the 3 screws were the N54 and then they went to the N58.

At your altitude I'd be more interested in what size noozles you have. At high altitude we typically supply and undersize nozzle to make up for the rarified air. What are the circumstances that spawn the needle question?
  22. FWIW Wix is good stuff. Can't go wrong.....
  23. Steve, FWIW the US Postal folks do a good job for us on overseas shipments.
  24. If, as Gary mentioned, this is a matter of the fuel nozzle not moving freely up and down, unscrew the linkage piece from the nozzle and see if the nozzle can be moved up and down without effort, independent of the linkage. If it does, check the video for the section on tweaking the linkage of a twist that may be causing the bind.
