  1. A few hundred miles farther north. Similar business strategy, however. "You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time." - Abraham Lincoln Dennis
  2. Price dropped from $8,575 to $8,150. Might get down below $5,000 by Christmas as reality set in. Dennis

I'm in the SoCal desert where summer temps run 110º to 122º most days and the MSA kit works fine. Dennis

As my wife, the psychologist, points out from time to time, "We all live in our own reality". Keeping that in mind has helped me to better understand and, sometimes, tolerate some of the folks I've had to deal with over the years. Dennis

Not interested in the MSA air conditioning kit? Fairly easy installation, little or no fabrication, works well, cost effective. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/classic09b06 Dennis
  6. I think I could use one of those for my SoCal freeway drive to the in-laws for Thanksgiving later today. Dennis
  7. It makes me wonder how many parts are stashed away on shelves, in attics & garages, and in storage sheds belonging to members of this forum. I know I have more than a few "nice to have" Z items and Porsche parts. As a group, we could probably build a few new Zs with all the parts. Deeds
  8. That might be enough to pay off one class at a second tier school. Unfortunately, the carbs are only "new in box" until they're installed. Then they're as used as any set you'd find at the local Pick-A-Part. Shelf item for bragging rights only. Dennis
  9. But, shipping is only $50. I wonder how the seller arrived at the price he's asking for the carbs. Dennis

I always like Volvos had planned to buy an 1800 coupe when I came back to the States in 1971. However, the body style had changed to "sportswagon" and the coupe was no longer available new. Bought the Z instead. Interestingly in the article about the 3 million mile 1800, his daughter said they weren't close. No wonder....... .he was cranking out 100,000 road miles a year to get to the three million mile mark. I wonder how she'll word the Craigslist ad when she sells it. "One owner, retired school teacher, rebuilt engine." Dennis
  11. Yup. Good appreciation over the years. Just have to keep raising the insurance value every year or so. Selling is a hard decision to make. But, it's time. Dennis
  12. Very nice looking 914. The GT flares really add a lot to the look. I agree with you about the four cylinder 914s. I had a couple before I finally got my Sixer. A 1970 that never let me down and a 1974 that I never drove farther from home than I could walk back. I've had the 914-6 for 26 years and it's probably time to let someone else have fun with it. Only one problem the first year I owned it - a bad component in the distributor and otherwise nothing but gas and tune ups. Dennis
  13. As a fellow Porsche & Z owner, I think you probably need to sprinkle a few $$$$$$ around the four cylinder engine illustrated parts breakdown to make it a really good nightmare. Dennis

It will be a good day when all wars are just distant memories, faded pictures, and stories in history books. Dennis

Let them know I'm booked solid until next July.

Cliff, on behalf of the Vets in the group, I thank you for the recognition. It hasn't always been that way. Although I helped keep the world safe from Communism during my 20 year Air Force career last century, I still know some folks who could stuff you in a plastic barrel and send you to Turkey. Dennis
  17. And a touch of Saab Sonnet along the rear quarter. Dennis
  18. Why, of course if they were classy enough, they would call it .......wait for it......flogging the deceased equine. Dennis
  19. Be polite. Remember, the lady in the pictures is now almost 70 years old and the horses are dead. Dennis
  20. The Mercedes motor used in the Infiniti QX30 would be a natural choice for Nissan....and it gets 32 MPG. Dennis

Gotta love the old roadsters. My early open sports car experiences were driving MGAs and MGBs. When I checked out the Datsun offerings, the salesman said, "Get a 2000. We only sell 1600s to girls". At the time, I was in the Air Force and headed overseas, so no sale. When I got back to the States, no more new roadsters, that's when I bought my Z. Dennis

    Impressive! Dennis
  23. Looks good! Although I might lose some parts transitioning from the street to my driveway where there's a slight dip and incline. My neighbor across the street did about $15K damage to his Porsche engine in his low riding 911 leaving his driveway. Dennis
  24. Nice. However, pictures of unmodified cars might have added a bit to the discussion of "what to look for" when buying a Z. Dennis
  25. Let us know how the conversion turns out. If $975 is the current market value, I think I'll take mine out of the box it's been stored in for 45 years and slap on another layer of bubble wrap. Original "D" hubcaps and original AM radios seem to be investment quality items. Never throw anything away Dennis
