Lake Arrowhead. A nice escape from the desert when it's 120º in the summer and 20 minutes from a ski resort in the winter.

Not in the 60s where I am today. 5,750 feet above sea level in the local mountains......where it snows and people ski. Dennis

The desert dog finally awoke and didn't look too happy about the white stuff. Dennis

It's been snowing here since about 5:00 this morning and my dog is still snuggled deep in the feather comforter on the bed. He's in for a snowy surprise when he goes out this morning. I hope Santa was good to all of you this year. Dennis

    Merry Happy! Dennis
  6. Oops. 7' X 2'.......and as you may have replied to your girlfriend, "It might not be too big around, but it's real short" Cliff, thanks for being a better proof reader than I am. Dennis
  7. To add to the discussion and flash some "eye candy" I think any kind of poster/banner, whether factory or aftermarket, is a nice addition to a garage wall. I have everything from Studebaker dealership showroom banners to factory Porsche racing posters. I even have the full size highway billboard sheets for a late '60s Fiat, but no walls big enough for it.. I'm amazed what dealerships will give away if you ask nicely. As part of the sale deal, I picked up a large dealership display for the '83 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe I once bought. The local Infiniti service department manager gave me a large G37 convertible wall display after about five years of asking every time I went in for service. Although not factory, the banner below will eventually hang in the garage. It's 7' X 2' and has grommets for hanging or nailing. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all! Dennis

In debt to Grandma or the opportunity to become the coolest kid in High School? That is a moral dilemma! At the local high school it's easy to tell the student parking lot from the teacher parking lot. No Dinos, but the better, newer, cars are in the student lot. Dennis

Sorry, I don't have three. But I do have one (not a Z) parked in my garage. It was a very good buy at less than 50¢ for every dollar the previous owner spent as evidenced by the folder of receipts that accompanied the car at time of sale. It happens. ? Dennis

Yup, that's how value often works. A buyer would have the choice of driving it like it is or making it a rather involved project car. As a project car, taking on a righthand drive Z in the US would add to the fun/drama. Much would depend on the restoration skills of the buyer, how much work would have to be "farmed" out, the depth of the budget, or all three. It's easy to look at the pictures of the car and realize that if you you were willing to pour $50,000 into it's restoration, you could end up with a very nice $25,000 Z. So, the value? For me maybe $5,000 as a daily driver novelty (unusable at drive-up bank ATMs or fast food pick-up windows) if it really is structurally solid and mechanically sound with just paint patina. Dennis

Seller mentions "natural patina on paint". It appears that patina was applied to the hood by a large immovable object. Dennis

Might have to make an audio recording of that and play it really loud when I'm driving my Z. Dennis
  13. Bidding is almost at the $20K level and there's mention in the comments of an upcoming Scarab book. Dennis

Am I seeing bubbles/delamination above the glove box opening or is that just the light reflecting in the 2nd picture? Dennis
  15. Nice find. That should look great in your garage. What are the flag dimensions? Dennis
  16. Perhaps you misread or misinterpreted my comment. Or, perhaps I misread or misinterpreted your comment. I don't object to anything on the listing - seller's story or viewer comments. I just enjoy watching the sale process on BAT and may give it a try with my 914-6. A friend will be listing his Porsche 912 there shortly and we've been working on his narrative, photos, and video. Watching the sales of the last several 912s has been a hoot. He likes the process and the listing help received from the site staff. Dennis
  17. This should be fun to watch. So far, no snarky comments from non-bidding "experts". Dennis
  18. Probably just a problem with your computer screen resolution. Dennis
  19. The use of "nitty-gritty" and "willy-nilly" is the the same post is okey dokey by me and an easy peasy way to liven up the discussion. Sorry, it's cold outside and I'm home alone, unsupervised. Dennis

One would think that it wouldn't be too difficult to employ a phone's motion sensor and a NFC chip in the steering wheel to block phone use in the driver's seat while the car was moving. But, that would probably add 75¢ to the cost of every new car so it probably won't happen. Dennis

Not at Eglin. I was at Keesler in Biloxi with the 53 Weather hurricane hunters and the 1st ACGS photo mapping units. That was back before satellite mapping when we used C-130s and C-135s to fly straight lines all day taking 3D photos to turn into maps. Dennis

Picture #19 looks like a fiberglass repair patch over something. Good looking car. But, Gulf Coast humidity and salt in the air can do some damage over time. I lived in Ocean Springs, MS for a while and the Z caught rust quite easily. Dennis

Have you considered melting a hole with a heated rod of the proper diameter rather than punching one? Dennis
  24. One of my wife's coworkers recently bought a Tesla Model 3 and immediately had it wrapped in a flat finish film because she didn't like the shiny blue paint. Her car, her money. But, I don't get the appeal. As for the work on the Z in the sped up video, it would have been interesting to see a "man-hour meter" ticking away in the bottom right corner of the screen. Dennis

Covercraft make a very good custom fit cover. Available in a variety of materials for outdoors or garage kept cars. I've used them for decades and was a distributor for several years. Dennis
