Sounds like my son. I spent a good amount of time getting his 77 going nothing as nice as this and he didn't like it. He wanted a nice 4x4 truck which he now has. 3 years later he admits to missing it and wish he still had it. If you have the means, keep it, tell him you sold it, and put it in storage somewhere. Get classic car insurance on it and drive it to work once a week or once a month to keep things fresh and moving. Then in a few years when it comes up again you can have a nice lunch together at an outside eating establishment and park it right where he can see it. Only tell him it's yours when you get up to leave! If not then sell it. It should only go up in value.

Ok. So on the new plugs how many miles you have them. I was thinking that the CTS sensor maybe not reading properly causing the rich condition. You said you smelled gas what made me think this. So if you jump in the car when it's fairly cold it won't pull well past 4K either right? If warm or cold it sputters it's not likely the CTS. Just odd you smell gas with out the plugs fowling. Do you happen to know if your FPR is good? Wondering if your getting fuel pressure spikes. It looks painted not sure if it is a new one or not.

AFM and TPS are NLA I believe. Though I think you can get a TPS plug from a 300zx. All the others use the same plugs as the injectors. I used mid 90's Volvo injector plugs as I like their rubber boots.

I have one of the clear Mr gasket filters that folks don't recommend coming right off the fuel line before the mechanical pump. Supposedly my tank was cleaned and I'm shocked at the amount of crap in that filter.

You said you got new plugs, how do they look now? Does it run ok when it's cold, then when warmed up it starts to miss?

Something doesn't make sense. I had a heavy moded 2.8 that was running 45 triples and went to stock SUs, stock fuel lines and after market generic fuel pump with out ever having a lean issue. For kicks can you run a single gallon of fuel safely in the engine compartment to isolate the fuel system entirely? Start with the closest and work out from there. I don't recall you mentioning tank condition from purchase? edit: my fuel rail was not stock.

After many removals of intakes at the JY if the shield bolts won't easily come off I leave it alone. Done take the chance of rounding them off. Remove the intake, get a good 6 point socket and they come right off.

Mom and dads money if I recall. It was the one car I should have never sold. I found out later everyone in my family loved it but me. I just hated the color and no AC. At the time I couldn't justifying spending 8k minimum for paint and AC. Oh well, she's in the JY heaven somewhere.

yeah! I sold it to a 17 year old kid in South Florida. That was 2 weeks worth of ownership for him. He bought it for 7k and insured for 10k. I tried like heck to buy it back from the insurance company. No luck.
