  1. Are the float lid vents open and clear? Nothing should be squiring out of the bowl lid at all. Be sure to buy extra lid gaskets.........sounds like you will be needing them
  2. This may help as well - http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/49031-whats-that-smell-exhaust-fumes/
  3. Pulled my hazard switch - polished up the connectors - turn signals again!
  4. I'm a big Griot's Garage fan - all their products are top notch. After I wash, I use Griot's Spray on Wax - then microfiber towel to dry. I only wax once per year but use the spray on wax after every wash - works great for me and my car alwasys has that just waxed shine. I use to use that jelly blade to sheath the water off but they will leave micro scratchs in the paint. I threw mine in the trash, just didn't work for me.

Nothing worse than a damn thief!
  6. Is it stamped "DATSUN"? Or any markings on it?
  7. Post a pic
  8. Dump the unisyn and get one of these - you'll be glad you did http://www.aptfast.com/ShowItem/101420%20Carburetor%20Synchrometer%20Universal.aspx
  9. I'm like Jimmy Buffet......I'd have to start shooting the refrigerator!! LET THE THAWING BEGIN!!
  10. Woke the Z up after 4 1/2 months of sleeping. Waiting for a few more good rains to get all the crap off the roads
  11. Not that this is your problem - but a lot of folks think "bigger is better". With a stock engine - running stock numbers - your carbs could be a little oversized for your engine output, producing your running enviroment. You may want to check and note the RPM that you are runing (along with the AFR) at each of these above marks you are referring to. Have you developed a spreadsheet to track these settings for reference?

I do mine cold as well. No issues at all I use the "fit - do not fit" method as well
  13. Overfilling will blow out your seals and your diff will be smoked.............FWIW..........fill to the (bottom) of the top fill plug..........nothing more - nothing less.
  14. Washed and dewaxed - Griot's Garage clay bar'd - polish #3 - polish #2 - polish#1 - wax'd - and rewashed using a spray on wax after wash. I only wax once a year and use spray on wax after every wash while the Z is still wet - then hand dry and buff.
  15. I would inspect your fuel line filter - see if you have any debris in there...........could be junk sticking your needle valves open.
  16. I liked it as well - emailed the site and requested if they could print it on the back of the shirt............they responded "no". I did not order it
  17. I have heard (and not verified) that a return line takes care of the loud electric fuel pump noise............FWIW
  18. Adam Tell us your knowlege of triple carbs so we know where you knowledge level is. Personally I would not drill anything on your carbs at this point. How did you come up with your start up jetting? You have a standard L28? Any mods on any part of the engine? Cam?Inigition? Is everything stock? Orginal engine or rebuilt and bored?
  19. Not sure what diff you are running now but if you make the change for the ZX 5 speed be sure to research a 3.9 diff - if you have the $ review a STi LSD......it might put a grin on your face
  20. What a legacy he has left for all of us to enjoy. True success in life's accomplishments.
  21. Replace every line you can while you have it out - and the grommets in the back hatch area - and the grommet under the vapor tank - Did you replace your vapor hoses while you were at it?

Hagerty is the way to go - agreed value - send pics to document you build. What you are really insuring is the value of your build. Think of it as a" little life insurance policy for your car". Natuarlly you have to have it in underoof protected and it can not be your daily driver. Read the rules of the game
  23. I feel bad when I throw out a Woodford Reserve bottle - but not a tube of toothpaste..............much less keep it for the perfect use on down the road.......... WTH!!
  24. Rebello Racing does custom grinds as well............just an FYI
  25. Personally, I would not run spacers unless it is nessecary for an upgrade. I do have spacers on my front due to a larger front brake upgrade to avoid the wheel from digging into my caliper. I thought about shaving the caliper but I did not like that idea either........so the spacer was nessecary.........but I really didn't want it. If I upgrade to 16" wheels or get new wheels with a slight offset then I can do away with my spacer.
