  1. Bought mine on ebay - buyer said it was rebuilt - yea, right. Had to pull it out after the first year and have it rebuilt. My buddy did the rebuild (Cert Master Mech) and only charged me $200. If I were to do it again, I would buy one and have it rebuilt from the get go - that way you know once it is in - it is in correctly. The 81-83 ZX 5 speed is pairing great for me. I do not have a 3" exhaust either - thinking of going to a 2.5" for next winters project. This year bought a set of Watanabe's for this past winters project- still waiting for delivery from Japan.

  3. I made that mistake several years ago thinking they would all fit - drove to Maryville Tenn - the Z Barn and bought one - took it straight to the re-chromer in Elizabethton Tenn - came and got when the finished and the damn thing did non line up.........sold it on ebay and started over again Measure twice - cut once!

Jet Hotted several years ago still looks great
  5. I have a STi LSD 3.9 (use to have a regular 3.9) paired with a 81-83 5 speed. Works great for me. Get up and go is great and crusing RPM's are great as well. You would not be disappointed at all.
  6. I gotta call BS on this with the OP states "back seats taken out"...... and we still have no pics and he claims it a 1971
  7. Looks like you already have some luck going on!

I have added a Colortune gizmo to my dial in process - that way you can see each independent spark-plug firing color...........FWIW.

I installed several years ago - a great addition without a doubt
  10. In my opinion a smaller thicker steering wheel is a must - I have my refinished original in storage.
  11. Installed CV axles - putting half shafts into storage
  12. Keep us posted how it works - when I pulled my last year (or maybe the year before last) my puller lasted for a few rotations. There went $65 down the drain. Ended up with a hack saw to seperate
  13. Name: Datsun 240Z (1972) Date Added: 08 May 2010 - 05:28 AM Owner: Travel'n Man Short Description: This car was an eBay purchase from California in March 2007. I talked personally to the owner and he totally had me; hook - line - and sinker. I got wrapped up in the purchase emotionally and bought the car. It took a month to ship to me it was nothing that the previous owner described. There was extreme rust damage to the floor boards. It was not in "ready to paint" condition. The interior was in fair shape but not great shape - so - since I had possession of the car there was only one thing to do............create a budget and bring it back to its prime! This extensive refresh is from March 2007 to date. View Vehicle

Collin Just jumping in here - first of all welcome. There is a ton of info and knowledge so soak up what you can. You have made a great investment on your dollar spent. I just really don't that this car is going to see much road time due to the shape that it is in, but the parts will be the key for you. If you can find a road worthy shell and transfer the parts you will be in great shape. I would take you time taking the parts out and cleaning/refinishing them as you go (sell what you want to help fund your shell). Keep us posted on your progress Personally -(if that dash is in good shape use the search engine on this site) there is a great tutorual on reconditioning that dash so it looks brand new.
  15. Remember- there are more tire options for 16" than 15". If I were going to do it again for that reason alone I would move to 16"s. IMO

  18. Keep us in the loop - guarenteed be exciting!
  19. The puller failed - if there is a "next time" I will use a hacksaw and a press and save my $75 for something else.
  20. I bought a tool when I removed mine, after soaking for 2 days, it stripped it out in about 9.6 seconds...............hope your design is better than I wasted $75 on.
  21. He loses my interest at 100% rust free...............

    Great progress!
  25. Great thread - it takes passion and patience to bring a car back to this level. Most of us have battled the battle at one point or another with our dedication to our cars. Keep up the great work and pics.
