The quest for a bigger wheel/tire
FlordiaZ, I have on my car now BF Goodrich 205/70-14's on the original wheels I got with the car. They are about 1/2 taller than stock 195's. I had on the car for 25 years 205/60-14 on front and 215/60-14 on back, I thought they looked to short. Also with different front and rear you can't rotate them. The backs only had 4/32 left and the fronts had 9/32 left. You can see the difference on my car if you look at my gallery listed on my sing. Look in the special images gallery to see the difference. Second picture is the Goodyear and the 5th picture is the Goodrigh tires.

My poor Z...
I was wondering the same thing. I like my big fat bumpers to help in staving off the little bumps.

1976 280Z 33000 miles
A couple of things I see, over by the battery there seems to be paint flaking along the edge (see picture). Along the fender by the strut tower I see rust on the edge of the finder (see picture). I copied the pictures and then enhanced them and cut out the areas. I would say that the engine compartment is not from a car with 33k miles and garage kept. Also the windshield wiper blades have been replaced, they are black now and should be silver. Also the 2 holes in the hood are there just very hard to see, if the car was not repainted and was as well kept as the owner says where is the hood ornament.

1976 280Z 33000 miles
Are you sure it only has 33K miles. I have a 76 with 48K and my interior is like new, and I know it's original because I am the original owner. A car that was stored that long should have a good if not great interior. My bushings are still in good shape as well. I would look very carefully at the paint to see if it was repainted.

Hey, I just got these louvers...
Will, yes my louvers are bigger than the window and the rubber strip by about 1 inch on all 4 sides. I just notices today in this thread that I could have reversed the lower hinges. See picture for the size of the louvers.

Hey, I just got these louvers...
You can look at me car (look in by name "click Here"), I have the rear loovers, I have a section called closeups, look about 1/2 way down. I would turn the bottom latch around, I think I mounted mine wrong, but they work.

Check out this "71 240Z"
Look where the door closure is, the type, It look like mine and I have a 280. Also the dash looks like a 280. Looks like 2 pictures are not from the same time period, the car in the garage from 11/01/2007 and the Vin tag from 11/24/08 all the others are from 11/22/08. Why the different picture times.

240Z in movies
I don't know if any one has mentioned this movie. I was watching this movie on Sunday and woke up just in time to see the car. Capricorn One with Elliott Gould and Karen Black from 1978. It is about a manned mars mission that goes bad. Towards the end of the movie Elliott Gould borrows Karen Blacks car and it's looks like a 1976 or 77 red 280Z. It does not have the 240 or the 79 bumpers so it has to be a 75 through 78. It is in the last scene in the background.

tire size on 280z
For 25 years I had 205/60 - 14s on my front and 215/60 - 14s on the back with no problem on 5.5 wheels that I got with the car, last summer I switched to 205 /70 - 14s and like the feel better and they fill the wheel well better as well.
