z31 motor into a 280zx

Featured Replies

I have been wondering how hard it would be to swap the turbo v6 out of an early 300z into my 280zx 2+2? Any info would be helpfull.

But you would have to fashion mounts and the like for the motor and the transmission.

The rear wont be a problem though.

If your looking for just getting a turbo into your car it would be easier and a LOT LESS costly to go with the L28ET out of a 280ZXT.

Either way you decide good luck and do take a look at HybridZ.org, a good place for people doing converts to the Z and ZX.

without custom manifolds, the turbo placement will foul the chassis rail on the LHS. I have seen people notch the rail, but a better solution (engineering-wise) is to make custom manifolds.

They are a small engine will plenty of power; a good balance.

But Zmefly is right - the L-block turbo is a much easier fit!
