Yep your right its gas. I have the option of getting someone to TIG weld, my concern is that TIG might be much hotter than MIG and I wouldn't want the surrouding steel to warp especially if its anywhere visible. Would anyone here recommend TIG?

Thanks for the compliments, here is a shot of the finished dogleg, a finned sanding disc was used to smooth the welds.
