Size of rubber fuel line on 240Z?

Featured Replies

What's the original size of the fuel hose used on the 240Z (1973) and what's available that I can substitute?

Thanks

Eric aka Zeemunkey

Are you talking about the rubber hoses that go to and from the fuel pump? If so I would just take a small section of the hose you want to replace to your local auto parts place and get something close. I don't think it's critical as long as it's close enough for the clamps to work.

I think that 8.0mm is correct, but I couldn't find that size the day that my engine was spraying me in the face with gas. Wound up using 7.0 mm from the closest autopart store without any probs.

Since I'm working in my garage, I'm trying to limit the gas fumes to avoid "spousal annoyance"... I don't want to have to cut the line, traipse down to the autoparts store, fiddle around with the various sizes, saunter back, and find my wife screaming at me with a clothespin over her nose!

I always just jamb a big philips head screw driver in the rubber line and tighten the hose clamp around it. No fumes, no leaks to worry about

The wooden pencil is a great idea, especially if you have the soft valve seats. Adds "lead" to the fuel. Victor.
