Are you trying to repair a malfunctioning AT or simply trying to improve performance?

If it is the latter, I would suggest using the shift lever to manually shift at about 4500-5000 RPM. Limited to three speeds, this method gets the best performance out of our engine/transmission combination.

If you want to alter the automatic shift points, it requires changing the internal springs of the AT hydraulic controls. Kits used to be available, but I have no idea where to find one.

If you are trying to repair a malfunctioning transmission, overhaul kits are available but cost almost as much as a used transmission. I have the Nissan factory service manual for these transmission if you have the urge to get extremely dirty. There is even a Youtube video rebuilding one.

There's also I guy on hybridz that sells kits to modify the valve bodies for quicker shifts
