Weird noise coming from motor

Featured Replies

So I drove the car to the gas station the other day. I fill up the tank and go to start the car and she won't start, it was weird since she was fine driving around the block. Anyways after trying a few times I basically emptied one float since I had no tools and the gas station didn't have any tools as well I yanked one tube open and drained it. Tried her again and she started right up, but then started making this weird winy noise. Anyways I recorded the noise, if anyone knows what this could be please let me know.

you should rev the motor in the video. does the sound get higher in pitch when you do?

I went to go try it this afternoon and it wasn't making the sound now. Kind of weird, I'll post another video with me revving the motor.

May be my imagination but your vid seems to indicate the noise is louder at the rear of the engine which could possibly suggest oil starvation (blockage?) in the rear cam towers. I would be inclined to do an oil change as a precaution.

I just did one about 10-20 miles ago, haven't really driven it further then in the parkinglot and around the neighborhood twice.

And did the noise start just after you changed the oil? If so, what oil pressure are you getting.

I think I may have heard the noise. It seemed to be vacuum related. Check all of your vacuum lines to make sure they are properly seated.

Have you rechecked your oil level - are you leaking oil and maybe don't know it? Noise just started going to the gas station and 20 miles ago just completed an oil change..............

I actually changed the oil some weeks ago, the noise started after my car didn't start at the gas station. It hasn't come back yet after I tried running the car the other day.

The car is located at my work in a closed parking lot. It's not leaking oil, I haven't been able to recreate the noise the last two times I started the car. Maybe it was a fluke?
