Exhaust Smell Gone

I bought my early 260z a few months ago. The first thing I did was change the struts (KYB's) and installed Eibach springs. Tires had about an inch gap, look real good. The ride was wasn't so good, I could feel every bump and road marker, even bottomed out a few times. The exhaust smell was also real bad so I sealed everything up, tail lights, drain plugs ect. I got tired of the rough riding so I put back the stock springs. It raised the front end 3" and the rear 2" now here's where it gets weird, the exhaust smell is gone.

I've been using a CO detector in the car the last month and it would read in the 50's or more and now just 10ppm. Must have done something to the arodynamics!

for a 1st post, very informative, I had one of the reasons selling my Z is the smell, I also had lowering springs with gas struts, but made my ride superb. but never thought about the realationship with the smell.

maybe if other members who are doing the same, either lowering or going back to stock can "keep a nose" on this one.

thanks for sharing

how does your car look with a 3" lift?

It doesn't look as good but it's lot more fun to drive, and not to have that exhaust smell....I'll take it. I'm going to try and attach before and after photos. I'm thinking the extra air passing under the car is disturbing the air in the back.
