1975 280z wont start

I went to start my car and it backfired slightly, now it just turns over and wont start. I pulled a spark plug out and Im getting spark and fuel. I took off the valve cover and my timing chain is on and looks fine. Is there a sensor preventing my car to start? Any ideas please reply,thanx
