Posted October 30, 200222 yr comment_17860 I want an Air Dam! But I don't wany to glass it into place. What I'd like is a fiberglass model that replaces the sheet metal piece, using the same mounting bolt locactions. I like this style in particular. Any suggestions? October 30, 200222 yr comment_17871 Most of the air dams do connect using the existing bolt holes.. I will post a closeup of the mounting for my air dam tonight... I don't have a picture showing any of the details yet, but I will take one. I used cariage bolts to connect mine. After the heads are painted they look pretty good. The most important part, (for me) is to build a floor right behind the dam to bridge the gap between the frame and the back of the air dam.. If you don't build it the air dam is just trim, not a functional air dam. I build these out of aluminum. October 31, 200222 yr comment_17939 I did not want to glass mine in either. Just drilled 4 holes and bolted it up. Pic attached. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/3415-air-dam-advice/#findComment-17939 Share on other sites
October 31, 200222 yr comment_17964 I had a fiberglass air dam once. When ever I would accidently run into a side walk or other unmovable object my air dam would take the beating. It slowly got trashed, small cracks then bigger ones then finally it was just falling apart. I went to the urathane air dam and it is more flexable. It is more forgiving that the fiberglass ones (go urathane). But like smg1404 said you have to support the dam underneath. High speed will make the dam flex and fold under. Motorsports has a good variety try them. I believe most of there dams will bolt on.
