Hey guys, new z owner here.I just got a !978 280z looks to be all factory.Havent had it long enough to look at much but was told by previous owner that the car will turn over and start if fuel sprayed into throttle body.He told me injectors were not pulsing.I have spent my first week tracing down bad ingnition relay for no starter issue.Have not had time to look at injector issue if not related.Has anyone heard of this concern.Unfortanatly i am a technician but on different cars but very electrical savy.any help would be welcome.thank you.

Out of my depth a bit but it sounds like a fuel pressure problem more than an injector problem...

These cars are prone to issues with the fuel pump or, more than likely, crud build-up in the fuel filter do junk in the tank. I'd go in the following order:

1. Check the fuel filter (or just swap in a new one...cheap and a good idea).

2. Check fuel pressure after the pump (on the 280z you may be clogged before the pump).

3. If fuel pressure is good, search for posts from sblake01...a good amount of information on fuel injection stuff.

Good luck.

ok got it to start but i think plugs are fowled from stale gas.it will start and run but not good and not long.this thing has sat up since the 90's from what i understand.I think i have my work cut out.but i never give up
