Posted October 6, 200915 yr comment_296606 Pardon my ignorance (or lack of free time to read through 2500 posts), but I'm interested in getting a few pointers in fixing up my newly acquired Z. I have previously owned a 74 260z, but just bought a 75 260z FI. I've got a few questions as to what I should do first. 1. Fuel Injectors: I believe them to be original but cleaned and in good shape. Is there a popular upgrade that will assist in power or fuel economy? Is there a nice package set with high end fuel lines that can be purchased somewhere? 2. Front end: Little wobble, pretty common here. I purchased the poly-urethane set of bushings to replace, but i'd like to do the shocks as well. I see KYB and Tockico appear to be the popular choices. Any specific recommendations? I'm not looking to take it to the track, just have a solid ride all the way around. 3. Brakes: On my 260z, I did the toyota pickup brake conversion to upgrade to the 4 piston calipers in the front. Is that pretty much the best (or efficient/cheap) way to upgrade the front end? Is it worth ever worrying about changing from drum to disc in the back? 4. Fender rub: I have a custom front bumper, but I can't turn the wheels too much without catching a little rub on the fender. Any fix here without having to purchase some thin/ugly little rims? 5. Any other important fixes/upgrades you guys think I should make? I appreciate the input! I've attached a link to check out a picture of the Z. Not bad for what I paid for it. http://i34.tinypic.com/fa9zwj.jpg Thanks again! October 6, 200915 yr comment_296608 I had the same problem with fender rub. If its rubbing on the bumper only there is a very simple fix for this. I'm pretty positive that your bumper is made out of fiber glass. Go to your local hardware store and grab a small hand saw. Turn the wheels until they start rubbing the bumper and mark a line where that is. The rest is basically cut and sand. Two words of advise. One be very careful when cutting as fiberglass likes to break, and don't use power tools. Two, make sure you sand it nicely and don't leave any sharp edges. I had this same problem on my 280z. The previous owner place a after market bumper but didn't cut it to fit. I did the above mentioned repair and it worked great, haven't had any more rubbing. If you want I can send you some pictures and such.Hope that helpsJan Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/33437-new-75-280z-mod-questions/#findComment-296608 Share on other sites
