my first post. i'll get straight to the point. i am looking for a 240z to buy. it will be a daily driven car, and i plan to modify it. im planning to frankenstein a sr2odet in there. does anyone know if it'll still be smog legal for a 70'-73' 240z in ca? any hints on what i should look for when i go get one? also i wonder if i tear the brakes off of a 300zx will they fit? any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks.

People have done 300ZX brake swaps before IIRC so they should be pretty easy to fit. Sorry that I cant give any more specific information...

yes i realize that it will be fast, no need to be harsh. im wondering like in comparison to other cars how fast will it be? can anyone estimate 0-60 time? quarter mile times.. and so on and so fourth. thanks.

What's an sr20det? Is that a v8 or turbo'd engine? Sorry to ask a dumb question but it's not obvious to me what the engine is your proposing?

Go on to google and do a 240z brake search you should find some info. Also, check the brakes section of this site you might find some conversion info on the 300zx brakes. I know plenty of people have done the toyota brake conversion here and there's plenty on that.

Try the links section to the washington state site, arizona z club or zcar.com I believe you'll find some stuff at one of those sites for the 300zx conversion.

I think it is a 2L 4 cylinder turbo producing 230hp, it would be lighter than the L24 6 cylinder and it almost has 100hp more so it would fly (and sound crap)

California currently has a law exempting 73 and older cars from having to be smogged.

You'll find some good info on both questions at www.hybridz.org if you haven't been there already.

Engine stat sites or engine conversion sites?

sites that sell engines. maybe some stats will help too. does anybody know what an sr20det off of a s14 will run about? im looking for the 220hp one. thanks.

I think the sr20det is the same engine that they put in the Sentra SE/SE-R??

If it is (which I am not sure) it would be a 2.0-L 4-cyl. making 140 hp.
