Featured Replies

:stupid: Alright i just bought a 77 280z. I've taken off the intake and exhaust manifolds and lines running on it. nothing is attached to the engine... except the tranny. and I can't get it to seperate for the life of me i've taken all of the bolts off from the bellhousing and it seperates a bit... but i can't get them apart....... i'm probable missing a step:stupid: can you fill me in? (never pulled an engine before)

The engine and transmission are for sale by the way LOL and fuel tank, in san bernardino, cali.

Did you remove the shield on the bottom, between the engine and tranny. Did you undo the engine mounts? make sure all hoses are pulled (Heater Hose)

yup the engine is comming up nicely but it wont completely seperate from the transmission... should i just give it lots of hard lovin? (beat it around?)

I would just shake it loose and shake it good. If you want to use a rubber mallet then go ahead. I have really never had to pry one apart.

You're probably binding ont the input shaft. You've got to place a jack under the trans and raise both engine and trans slightly so that the engine is clear of the mounts and when they're both level relative to each other and all of the bolts are out, gently pull them apart.

yeah i removed the starter and all the bolts. the engine and transmission are seperated by about a 1/4 inch, i can see to the otherside. sweet. yeah, its probably... binding? idk i'll put a jack under it right now and try to level and pull them apart thanks

You know, I just realized that you're probably about 5 minutes or so away from me.
