I'm a relatively recent Z owner, but a long-time Z lover. I've wanted a Z ever since I helped my friend get his 260 2+2 running back in 1995, and finally made it happen in '05, when I bought an immaculate '92 300ZX TT.

Funny thing happened, though in 2006. I got married, and we got knocked up. Both my wife and I are members of the local Z club, and we wanted to drive Z cars to the meetings/events, so we needed another. I started looking in earnest after my son was born in February of '07, and in May, I came across my new Z, a '71 240 (number 31917).

We've named them big red and buttercup.

Big red is your average "Stage III" 300ZX, meaning that it has a cone filter, a bigger exhaust, a richer ECU program, and boost jets. The previous owner also saw fit to install 13" Brembo brakes up front, a big plus in my book.

Buttercup was bone stock when I first took ownership, but now has the Toyota front brake upgrade, a 280ZX distributor, MSD coil, and 280ZX alternator. The plan is to keep everything relatively stock, save for replacing the unreliable bits (like points and the external voltage regulator). It has the original motor, and it shipped with an E31 head.

Welcome, nice looking Z's. This club has been a big and I mean BIG help in my Z car project.

Always nice to see another Albuquerque Z-Car owner on the Forum. Let's hook up some time, I'd love to check out both of your Z's.

Later...Robert

Welcome! Very nice looking cars! You are at the right place for getting sound advice or some well founded opinions when you need them. The knowledge bank here is incredible (as evidenced by the volume of information available in the archives).

I took a while to get the 240 that I have now, and it was worth the wait. (Now, if I can just find the time to do some actual work on it...)

Thanks!

I tried out hybridz, but what I do with my Zs and what they do with their Zs just didn't fit together. This place seems more my speed.

Yes, there are many opinions about what is "right" for these cars. I'm here for the same reason.
